the score is far too generous. It's an HD port that didn't solve the core problems of the game. It's not even a particularly impressive visual upgrade. This type of thing should get an 8 max. From how this review reads, a more accurate score would be a 7

@macaque12 I think you got it. It's like they hit the reset on the series and now they can add a couple of the game modes in every subseequent game, and rip them out again for the next gen. Shameful milkage at its worst

Tom McShea is thinking of what he wants from the wiiu rather than what regular people want. Regular people enjoy Mariokart and like the familiarity of Nintendo's mainstays. Tom plays video games for a living and so any repetition will wear on him more than with people with regular jobs.
