Good Wills really are a great place to find some obscure stuff and they often have the best prices. But it seems that some around the SF Bay Area have caught onto the trend and have raised prices on some of their games.

Phantasy Star 4 was pretty difficult I remember more than once spending an hour or so crawling through a dungeon only to have some ridiculously hard boss wipe out my entire team and then having to start from the begining of the dungeon again.

Also Miracle Warriors had this ridiculous puzzel near the end that made it almost impossible to beat - you just had to keep trying again and again.

The Mega Drive (Genesis) Terminator game was pretty hardcore as well - you only had one life and rather than start from the beginning of the level you had to start from the beginning of the game if you died. Also, you couldn't jump which made the final level a nightmare because there were loads of dead ends and half a terminator following you so if you hit a dead end that was it - no escape.

Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with Miracle Warriors. That game drove me nuts.

The Neo Geo was probably my first major retro console purchase and I don't regret it a bit. I always wanted to own one as a kid but the original $600 price tag made the purchase a tad prohibitive. The console can still be a bit expensive (especially the ones modded with s-video), but a lot of the older games are incredibly cheap--picked up Samurai Showdown II in Japan for $5. That being said, a lot of the more recent games are still incredibly pricey (~$300), but I'm more of a fan of the older games anyway. It still gives me the feeling of "Wow, I'm playing arcade games at home" and people usually get a laugh out of seeing how huge the cartridges are.

Final Fight CD was great game.DeafNYCPlayer

I will second this. Best home version of Final Fight for a really long time, and it has remixed music. Also, a word of advice, if you can get the CDX incarnation of the Sega CD hardware then go for it. The original model had a ton of problems and the side-by-side model, while a little more reliable, often has problems as well. I've had my CDX for almost 10 years and it's still going strong.

Yeesh, and here I thought I had a decent collection of systems. I actually picked up a Famicom along with the disk drive when we visited Japan for TGS this past year. If I end up going next year, I may finally purchase a Turbo Duo (which are still incredibly expensive) or a Super Famicom.

Definitely worth it if you can track one down.

I believe former GameSpot video super-dude Tim Tracy had some kind of connection with the man who did the cover art for the original Mega Man box. I'll ask him.
