I suspect it made a good profit for a video game. However, there is a difference between being a king and being a god. Valve simply chose to spend their time making billions of dollars through managing Steam instead of just millions through making games.

My girlfriend gets paid carrying ranked games in Overwatch. It's pretty incredible.

I pretty much buy digital almost exclusively.

The only exceptions are: 1) collector's editions with physical goodies; 2) second-hand console games that are significantly cheaper than digital versions on sales.

VR games make me sweat.

Realistic combat doesn't necessarily = good combat. Good combat is what plays well. Realistic gunplay in games like ARMA 3 does not generate nearly as much of an appeal as most other shooters. Just like people playing shooters will want to play a shooter with all its unrealistic but fun bits instead of a military sim, good and enjoyable melee combat may be something very different from realistic melee combat. Indeed, some of the best melee combat in modern years are found in action games by Platinum, which are as unrealistic as it gets.

We'll see how it plays out.

I got my PS4 Pro just for Nioh and Boost-mode Persona 5. Although it has now commenced dust-gathering, I suppose I got what I paid for.

In recent years it's clear that multiplat is the way to go for Platinum Games. Quality games have no difficulty finding an audience on multiple platforms.
