Well even though I've been gone I've still been writing (mostly poems both dark and lovey-dovey lol and a couple songs). Dunno if I've gotten any better but here's one of my most recent ones:
From Shadow Comes The Light
Whether it's something good or something gone wrong,
those shadows on your face prove the light's still strong.
For what is there to compare to,
something bad needs to be with something good,
and by the smile on your face you know it's true.
A little laugh can be the medicine to the soul,
when everything's upside down and you don't feel so whole.
A lot can be said when things come crashing down,
the sun will rise tomorrow even as it sets,
and the darkest bruise can be covered by the evening gown.
And you know,
when the air moves, sky still hovers above,
When the sun sets the moon rises to guide you.
Heaven waits for the sinners still roaming Earth,
Even if the world's filled with hate,
you can fill your heart with love.
And after every death there is a rebirth.
Let your heart open up inside your mouth,
from when things are alright to when they head south.
There's far better things than what happened yesterday,
it's the reason we call the here and now a gift,
and why we look into eachother's eyes instead of future days.
And every promise can be broken with a little misfortune,
but all it takes is compromise to leave things a little less broken.
When you think you've bent too far and are about to break,
learn to accept the things you cannot change,
and have faith that you're strong and have what it takes,
cuz you know,
when the air moves, sky still hovers above,
When the sun sets the moon rises to guide you.
Heaven waits for the sinners still roaming Earth,
Even if the world's filled with hate,
there's always room to fly like a dove;
and even in the sacred night you can find a little mirth.
