Most of my gaming friends and myself were mostly xbox 360 this gen, but we're jumping to ps4 next gen. Though the hardcore among us (basically just me) will certainly be getting both eventually, likely when they break down and sell a cheaper xbox one without the kinect.

Just GTA V and South Park: Stick Of Truth for the 360 (and Watch Dogs if the PC version is botched) and Beyond: Two Souls for the PS3, will be moving to PS4 next gen but probably not till next summer or so.

The physical stores around me don't carry PC games anymore, so I have to order everything online anyway, and once you're at that point, might as well just get it on steam eh? Though I am a sucker for a physical map and would probably go out of my way to get  one :)

As for the last physical PC game I bought... either Shogun 2 or Skyrim, it's been a while. Still buy 90% of my console games physically though...

going from 6 to 8 wouldn't change your gaming performance at all I'd expect. Thing's like photo editing or 3d modeling a little, but not gaming.

A damn fine (and bloody huge) laptop, I imagine you'll do quite well for at least the next 2-3 years, with decent performance for another 2 after that. I don't think anyone can recommend OCing a laptop though. Damned expensive thing to break after you've voided the warranty. And as mentioned the heat problems would be very rough on a laptop.

Couple questions, first where are you getting those prices from, they seem quite high? What country are you in? Do you have experience building PC's? What's your overall budget?

DO NOT get an Alienware, at worst buy the components and have someone else build them, but do not get an Alienware.

And just going off of what you posted, I would go with the Intel build, but:
get a better heatsink
go up to at least 8gb of ram, preferably just go with 16, ram's cheap these days
I would personally change the mobo, might as well go with a full-size ATX board if you're getting a big enough tower
I would either go with the cheaper Nvidia Geforce 660Ti or  the Radeon 7950
If you will be doing the building yourself, do yourself a favour and get a modular PSU

[QUOTE="chicknfeet"]Man, everybody complaining that they need to go to a 100 point scale really don't get it. They just got away from the 100 point scale...it was just in decimal form before. It was dumb. It was trivial trying to split a game between a 8.6 and an 8.7...it's the same as giving a game a 86 or an 87. I'm glad they are simplifying it. The decimal point system is trivial. Even then, the score is just there to appease the people that are too lazy to read. If it bothers you that much to see a score go to whole numbers, then there are plenty of sites out there that have meaningless decimal point systems for you to drool over. The rest of us will stick to reading information about the games.N3MO
The original 100 point system held more weight and meaning behind it. The final score wasn't given out by the reviewer but what they rated each category of the game. The reviewer would put in score in like 4 or 5 categories such as game play and graphics on a 1-10 scale. The weight of each category was not equal. One point in game play weighed more than 1 in graphics for example. The total of all the categories is what gave a game its score. For a numbered review system it was by far the best IMO. That was also back in a time when really passionate people were running the site. GameSpot used to have a rep for doing their own thing and doing it well. Now its just another gaming site with no identity.

The gold old days with "tilt" :)

Well I've decided to go with the Z87 Sabertooth, it does have a max DRAM frequency of 1866, but after seeing these benchmarks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0L_KFKJYvg) I'm not really concerned about that anymore. I would rather have the tougher mobo then the networking stuff. Thanks for the help guys.
