I just got a new LG 50'' Plasma HDTV and connected my ps3 to it using a HDMI cable.. for 2 weeks i believed it was completely perfect and no lag and stuff also putting in mind that it has a 0.001 response time which should be completely HD lag free.. later on i removed the HDMI cable to take it with me to a friend.. when i came back i plugged it back in to my LG tv and begin thinking that there is somekind of lag.. maybe it's just my mind messing up with me..
So is there anyway that i could measure if there is lag or not once and for all so i would be completely sure of what's going on ? Maybe there's some kind of absolute way just to be extremely sure of this.. and can companys claim that the tv has this response time while it's not real !? I actually read it in its specifications on the cover !

Thanks for the helpful feedback guys !
Because i heard the first one was pretty boring and sort of over-rated, also will it be out dated or what ?
Is it ok of i just play 2 and read the story of part 1 on wikipedia just to be on the right track, because i heard the end of it is pretty important to keep track of the storyline. ( No Spoilers please )
I hate them - they always distract me and i never watch whats going on haha.hotfireeThat's one of the reasons i dislike them too, i find them to be a bit distracting from getting to appreciate the backdrops of the game or how cinematic the cut-scenes are, but i still can't manage to get myself not to have them ON !
It's the exact same for me too.. in Egypt all English movies have Arabic subtitles on TV and in cinema.. and when we buy an English movie on DVD and there's no Arabic subtitles we still put English subtitles on just like i do with games.I also use Subtitles despite understanding English fluently, it's something that comes natural since all foreign TV shows on TV here, Which is alot, has subtitles. Additionally Even movies in the Cinema has subtitles so for me it does not remove the cinematic feel.

I was wondering is it just me or is there any more foreign people that use subtitles in games to really keep track of the story.
Well english isn't my first language, arabic is as i'm egyptian. I'm able to listen and understand most of the words being said, but the thing is i always wanna be extra sure that i'm keeping track of all which is being said.
The only downback for me is that i sometimes have the feeling that subtitles removes this unexpected surprise when there's a twist in a cut-scene for example and you read it before it's actually said on screen. Is there anyone else annoyed from the fact that subtitles takes away from a game's cinematic feel ?
