Many forget that the real star of the first RE game was the mansion itself. From the first moment, you feel that there is something wrong with the place, and it goes farther back than the monsters.

At one point, you enter a small kitchen with a bookshelf blocking a door. Clearly, at one point people were living and working here but they were not aware of the door, or not allowed to enter. Moving it is simple enough but it leaves you with this feeling that you're supposed go in there. The zombies are not just enemies - if anything they seem just as trapped in the mansion as you are. Trapped by (oh yes) the resident evil.

In the following games, this aspect seems to have been largely overlooked - now it was simply about making your way through a zombie outbreak. But... RE4 managed to capture that lightning in a bottle again with its unsettling religious undertones. It's a pity it got so silly by the end. The African setting in RE5 could have worked great if they had committed to a crumbling society, finally having been dealt its death blow by the bioweapons.

@Chernnunos: They did. It's in the behind-the-scenes footage.

Who would "buy" a game that puts limits on when you can play it? That's not a purchase - it's a rental. I may be an old fossil from the 80's, but when I got into gaming, you OWNED your games.

If it's indeed true that this game adds JUST enough content to Destiny to make it worth buying, then Bungie have done their job perfectly. Because that is their business model now, right? You want more? Then there is another €30 add-on in 6 months or so.

A game from Platinum got a 3? That's so sad.

Throughout my lifetime (I am 33), games are moving farther and farther away from my personal preferences. I like games to be an adventure. MY adventure, for me to handle in my own way. Games like Zelda, Baldur's Gate and Far Cry are my ideals - long journeys with a very clear goal, but it's still up to you to chose how to get there.

These days, my favorite games have either become too open - in Elder Scrolls Oblivion, there were just so many distractions that you just forgot the main story. I got the feeling that the game designers thought I would get bored if I EVER came across a patch of land without a cave, or bandit camp, or gate to hell. The GTA games, and Red Dead Redemption should be the best thing since sliced bread but they just have me bored stiff and I have no idea why.

... or they have become too social. I never play competitive multiplayer games and all the scoring and sharing and comparisons between players is ruining the fun.

I guess it's a good (and inevitable) thing that gaming is branching out and reaching more people. But I feel that my own branch is left somewhere far down the trunk where nobody really cares anymore. Still, every now and then, something like The Witcher, or Deus Ex: Human Revolution comes along...

@d-man @Freboy I'm not saying it's a terrible game. I'm saying it illustrates perfectly what is wrong with the industry in general.

I have a big problem with physical games being replaced by streaming services: They allow the companies to keep absolute control over the games. They can increase the price or just take them away at any time. Whenever they release new games, they can restrict access to old games to makes us buy the new stuff.

They are snatching control away from us and I think it smells bad.
