You may be able to find a (legal) site to download it from, but I'm not sure how many cater to Europe...

I checked Direct2Drive and they're selling it to US residents only...

[QUOTE="IvIajora"]

WiC to me seemed like a gme exactly like BF2, mixed with CnC3.

As in, you rush units in, and the whole thing is set up on servers, not off of starting at the beginning of the game. Someone said that CoH and WIC are the same at hurling at each other mass units. But in CoH, you have options, you can go more on a defensive posture, or go more straight forward. In WIC, all you can do is have units, and then rush them at the enemy. =/

WIC is one of the most overhyped games, and since both the Demo/End of the MP Beta, has died down cause most people don't like it.

DarkRecruit

You're not gonna win defending in CoH. And since when dont most people like it? Most people DO like it. And you can defend points, you can even fortify them, Oh yea, more people are online in the demo of WiC then in CoH.

he's sorta right about defending though. Even though you can use commander powers to attack defensive positions in CoH, you can't completly destroy a defensive line like in WiC.

I know I'm going to be in the extreme minority with what I'm about to say, but I just don't see what the hoopla is about WiC aside from pretty graphics. I've tried both SP and MP and I'm not really impressed. To me, the MP is all about rushing with units and hurling reinforcements at each other until you win. I like my RTS games with a bit more strategy. Perhaps it was just my teammates, or I just didn't play enough MP games, I dunno. But there isn't any resource control/domination....not really much defenses. I guess I just prefer a more traditional RTS.Zero_Space

there is a bit more strategy to it, but not as much as other RTS games. The major draw to MP is its brilliant implementation of cooperation, you can't be a lone wolf like in almost every other RTS, you have to work together in order to win. It's also a lot less intimidating then games like CoH, which don't seem to be as laid back as WiC. Not to say CoH is bad of course :)

your best bet is to try the trials for both WoW and LOTRO (I think one's coming out soon), if you don't like them, then wait for Age of Conan,Warhammer, or Gods and Heroes

Dark Crusade (my rating: 7.5/10)

pros: 7 factions to choose from, relatively lower PC requirements

cons: relatively inferior graphics and strategy involved

ActionRPG_Boy

Not really a fair review, DoW is years older, and does have its advantages.

It really comes down to this:

If you want better, more refined gameplay, go for CoH. If you want to play something a little less intimidating, and with more variety, give DoW a try. Both are a really good purchase though.

Company of Heroes, DoW is fun, but it's all just a work-up to COH.

The only problem with playing older games, if that you can sometimes realize that you're playing a much better older game for $5, compred to a new game for $50 :P

If you like any games with a good story, I would really suggest Deus Ex

GRAW (Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter) and the Rainbow Six games would top the list.

There are many others out there that strive to be realistic(ish) like America's Army, Operation Flashpoint, etc...but imo they're no comparison for GRAW and R6

Smudge_Smill

lol,

can someone tell me why everyone thinks that AA is unrealistic? (if you haven't played it, it's free so check it out)

Also, are we actually including mods in this thread? It doesn't really seem correct, the games themselves aren''t real, just the mods!

BTW, I just checked out VBS (1 and 2), and I don't think that anything over $100 can be considered a game

If supcom offers you the option to play defensively then I'll definitely get it. Because there is virtually no other RTS out there that doesn't force you to rush like mad.

But about the performance, it seems that no computer can play it today. According to the benchmarks on the tech sites, the most powerful quad core processors lag badly with it. Is that still true now? Did the numerous patches do anything?

Again, I see that the fanboys on the forums are shouting down anyone who thinks this game is a resource hog. They are saying that with a mediocre system you can have silky smooth performance because according to them, "they haven't noticed any lag on their system". Can someone here give a second, more impartial opinion.

not true, I have to get a new computer, even though I just bought a pretty high-end laptop two years ago
