@tyzone_matrix lol not sure I understand... I wasn't planing to ruin anybody's life =)
To me, the score is in fact not the central issue, but how Petit was personally offended and threatened by giving out her opinion. I just thought interesting to know that when it comes to reviewing, she's strict (not "Tom McShea" strict but still...)
Petit gave very few games a score of 9 or more. That includes L.A Noire, Batman: Arkham City, Dark Souls... Not even Tomb Raider (in which the protagonist is a woman, by the way) made the cut.
9/10 is a GREAT score, and she gave it to GTA V IN SPITE of her feelings about the game's misogyny, not BECAUSE of it.
I'm not even sure she actually lowered the score because of it, I'm pretty sure that is was more of a statement (i.g. Oh, btw, this game is somewhat offensive to women) than an actual criteria (OH WTF I HATE THIS GAME NO WAY IN HELL IMAGONNA GIVE IT A 10!!!!)
@fredyellowone I think that's actually part of the problem, unfortunately... There must be a ton of people who treat the world like s#&t because they expect to be treated like so...
True, but their focus for developing games SHOULD be the entertainment value, not money leeches. If you keep rushing and making poor quality games, eventually you lose consumer trust. EA stocks have already plummeted from 2008 (economic recession), right about when they stopped focusing on game development.
1. Continued transformation for our digital future;
Yeah, pretty sure that means DRM, microtransactions and DLCs...
2. Delivering amazing games and services across platforms;
I'll only believe it if I see it. At least now, Nintendo and PC users are shamefully unappreciated by EA, and both were essential in EA's past. Still, let's wait and see if he is true to this.
3. Instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth.
Oh, this is just a statement confirming what everyone knows: EA rushes developers to finish games, all in the name of profit. And we get stuff like Dragon Age II and ME 3 ending, lucky us!
C'mon guys, that's an excelent idea! Just look at Sim City's launch! I'm pretty sure EA is just doing what's best for us...
Seriously though, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. EA must think gamers are all stupid (y'know, just like they think ALL of us like online experience all the time...)
