This is crap. David Darling and anybody else who says this has a hidden agenda that would line their own pockets even more. People want OWNERSHIP. I don't care how big the hard drive is, people want something physical like discs. I never had a game disc die on me but I've had consoles break on me. When a console breaks I still have the games. And I don't want to have to have permission from an external source to play my games, which essentially what digital is. No wonder Codemasters is going under, it's brilliant minds like David Darling who's going to bring down the entire industry.
I prefer the style of boss fights in Amazing Spider-Man over Arkham City, where in most boss fights Batman is forced to abandon the awesome hand-to-hand combat mechanics and turn into a wuss who runs around and has to rely on the environment to do the damage for him.
@Gomtor Agreed. However when it comes to Dark/Demon Souls, there's a bit of a double standard. If you read the reviews, those games are being praised for the very same things that other games get criticized for. I mean, it gets credit for the trial and error element, describing it as "skill," when all it boils down to is memorization of where the enemies jump out of or where the traps are. Seriously, one website even praised it for not having a traditional pause functionality. That's supposed to be a positive that you can't go to the bathroom or answer the front door when you're playing Dark Souls??
So you guys want to come full circle back to the days when there were no checkpoints and you had limited lives before you had to start from the very beginning? How about creating a game where if you die once the disc self destructs and you can't ever play again? How's that for hardcore? Get a life. If you're playing video games to try impress society, you've got issues. I play games for fun and entertainment, not to prove that I'm tougher or more "hardcore" than you losers.
