Wow. You have no idea what you're talking about. If you'd actually played UT2004 and UT3 you'd notice countless, VERY significant differences. Some of these differences are so significant they're even driving a few UT2004 kiddies away from UT3, because they don't like what they've played in the demo.

It is not "UT2004 with a new coat of paint." Say that to any UT player and they'll laugh in your face.

I'll list a few of the more significant changes for you:

-The weapons have been completely rebalanced. UT2004 was very hitscan-dominant, UT3 is alot more balanced around projectile weaponry, but hitscan weapons are still useful. I like the newly balanced weapons for the most part, and these changes alone make the game feel different.

-The movement system is COMPLETELY different from UT2004. Dodge jump is gone completely, as is momentum redirection with wall dodging. UT3 is alot more grounded, you don't stay in the air as long and you can't dodge over a football field in one bound anymore. UT3 isn't half FPS half acrobatics simulator like UT2004.

-ADRENALINE IS GONE! (thank god)

I still feel as though the weapon system still isn't balanced. I could kill anyone with a few shots of the pistol while it takes me twice as long to kill someone with the rocket launcher.

I may still get this game for single player ( due to my horribly slow wireless connection and the fact that I have logged in 100's of hours on BF2 and CS without ever going online), but I want to wait on the reviews to decide.

I can max UT3 out on my $600 rig at that same resolution, and that is with an expensive proccessor that is an overkill. You can find great deals if you are just patient and look for sales at your local electronic store and at newegg.com. I have yet to encounter a game that my rig couldn't max out (except for CoH) and it costs slightly more than an xbox 360 with HD-DVD.

Yes, UT3 is an Unreal Tournament game. Thanks for pointing that out, but why exactly are you surprised by this? I figured the title would've given it away.

I have been playing the demo, and I have to agree with you on this. This is the exact same game as unreal tournament 2k4 with better graphics. It was a great game back then but is being washed out by all the fantastic competition. The gameplay balance feels a little off to me also. The pistol is just as strong as the flak cannon, and the sniping feels too clumsy for my taste, not to mention that half of the guns are just shiny little objects that all feel about the same. The graphics do look amazing in this game though.

It was a great online FPS back in the day, but when you now have to compete with games such as BF2 and CS:S, this game feels like an average shooter at best.

I have been reading a lot of topics today, and it seems like people are actually happy that R&C flopped. Why? The only excuse I have heard is that the cows deserve it because years ago they did it to us. That is YEARS ago, and why hold a grudge when very few people that were here years ago are still on this forum. This is a sad day for gaming because a good game that looked promising got a bad score. Lemmings and sheep, instead of laughing at them, why don't you understand and agree with their anger because it is well founded. The only reason that they are doing damage control is because you guys will try to bring this up at every available opportunity. The only reason that the Cows hate lemmings is because Lemmings hate cows, and the only reason lemmings hate sheep is because sheep hate lemmings, etc. and the cycle continues. I just do not see what is so rewarding about having a competitors game flop. Competition is good, and to be happy that your competitor just got hit with a low blow is really unsportsman-like. System Wars could be a good place to hang out and talk about the systems and their games, but it just seems like people are not wanting that.

All this forum seems to be is one person saying they think so-and-so is overrated, and then 10 post after calling them a fanboy and childish names. Is it that you guys really like argueing, or is it that there is a grudge against the different fanbases that results in arguments and flamewars that are ultimately futile. You would probably have a better chance at really changing someone's opinion if you do it maturely without having to call them a blind fanboy. I am pretty sure that a mod will lock this because they want to keep all the R&C topics on the front page, but I am just seriously wanting to know why some people like seeing a game fail.
