@Gneva @Erynn @Gelugon_baat I do accept her because I don't take issue with it. I don't even mind that she is the way she is. My point is that she doesn't look at all feminine so she's going to deal with scrutiny by others because people react unfairly to what they're not familiar with. She is completely free to live her life as she is, but we live in a shallow world, she's going to get shit. Not from myself, but from others. I wish it wasn't that way. I don't envy her. It's not right, but I'm a realist. Anyone who called me a shallow bitch is misunderstanding me. I'm not talking about what SHOULD be happening in the world, I'm talking about what DOES happen.
@Gneva @Gelugon_baat Speaking as a female, I don't take issue with Carolyn Petit's identity crisis, her sexuality is her business, and has nothing to do with her ability to do her job. Let's be real though. Regardless of what she's doing, she simply does not look female in any way. Is that okay? Sure. Whatever. Is it distracting? Yes, to MOST people. The high pitched nasal tone she emits is one of the most horrible sounds I've heard in my life. I personally know a lot.. A LOT of queens, pre and post op trans. They try. They try to look and sound feminine, they try to look pretty. It doesn't work all the time, but they do put in effort. And maybe that's not right. You shouldn't have to wear things that wreck your body for the purpose of appearing to be what you imagine yourself to be just so other people will accept you as whatever that is. I wear a lot of hoodies, I wear comfortable shoes, I don't cake on makeup. I actually believe in less is more, but I'm naturally feminine, no one looks at me and wonders, I don't have to work at it.
Again, let's be real. You can't just grow your man hair out, put on a blouse and expect people to go "Yup! Okay, female, accepted!", it's not that easy. Simply put, every time I've seen Carolyn, she's a hot mess by any standard. As a male she looks ridiculous, and as a female she looks ridiculous. Yes it's shallow, but that's life. It's unfair to expect everybody to jump on a PC acceptance bandwagon when what they're seeing comes across as one man's horrible impression of femininity. Get your hair done, take some hormone therapy, get your fake nails applied, stop shopping at Savers, and start working it like real women do. Until then you can't be mad at anyone but yourself. Period. Pun intended.
@Garnog I could watch an hour of a man wearing a stormtrooper helmet in his tighty whities reading the back of a cereal box, depending on the cereal, ingredients, tone, physical gesturing, and an offer to pour me a bowl. I'm sure Jess is with me on this one.
@machineares Business is business and while some decisions are made for profit over product, the bottom line is developers and creators of any kind are still looking to make a product they can be proud of, because that is what is remembered. The companies that represent those products are still looking to make decisions that keep their business in a good light as well as turning profit. There's not a table full of men sitting around a table cackling and rubbing their hands together greedily. Most people involved are trying to make good games and good systems to play them on in a new world where every mistake is scrutinized and overblown by nerds like us. The demonizing of every corporate structure is a little childish at this point. It's important to remember they can be cold and calculating but it's also important to give them credit as human beings now and then.
@SpikeSpeagal @FAIL_TR0LL What hurts me about Carolyn Petit is I know that he's doing an impression of my gender. He sees me and thinks "Well gee, all I have to do is grow out my hair and talk through my nose".. he doesn't even bother going out to buy great shoes. Such an insult.
