im looking at getting a new pc after xmas for crysisbut im on a buget and i want to run it maxed out at either 1024x768 or 720p with no aa but everything else on veryhigh

i must av a intel quadcore not sure what 1 tho and a 8800 gt 512mb card any help with the rest of the pc for as cheap as possible. and is it worth it just for this game. although i no that there will be others soon like farcry2 which looks awsome anyway.

a quadcore AMD or Intel and a 8800 gt will give you vastly more horespower than you suggest it would. With such a rig, you could play in high settings at 1280 x 1080 res., probably even higher. The 8800 gt runs about 270-300, if you can find it in stock, a big probem. One option that is not supposed to be a vaporware launch is the ati radeon 3870 512 mb card. I see them popping up now for 250.00. Should go cheaper even. One of these cards with a nice overclock would be just slightly slower than a GT 512mb, and much better than a gts 320 mb.

I'm going to go broke this month between my plane tickets for thanksgiving and having to buy all these top flight FPS games for the PC.

This is kinda crazy if you think about it. Usually upon launch of a new console, you would be lucky if there were two games that rank in the 9.0 range. We could very well have four 9.0+ ranked PC games released in November alone. And GOW, UT3, and COD4 will have maps and features not available on the console versions.

PC is clearly the superior gaming platform for hardcore gamers. High cost be damned.

I just dont' get why they are disabling very high quality in xp. as we can see from the screenshots on the hacked demo gamespot posted, it looks just as good as vista very high qual settings.

I bet Microborg has paid them off.

As it stands now, I really don't want to upgrade to vista. My xp media center seems just now to be hitting its stride, since i added a high def tv card.

A game company shouldn't have as one of its purposes requiring its users to upgrade to new operating systems they don't want, when the game does nto even require it.

We are also seeing now why some developers were saying the difference between dx 9 and 10 will not be that significant.
