Gamespot is a business site, those ads displayed in the site(if your not a subscriber), are the ones that fund the site. Advertisers can easily click on the botton and the bottom of the page, " Advertise on Gamespot", to advertise whatever product.

At the moment, users can rate and review games that have been released, but I have a few more ideas to get the community more involved with the site:

1 - Let us embed Gamespot media into forum and blog posts. So, in the video browser there could be a little 'embed' code which, when we place into forum posts, blogs, and game reviews, embeds (surprise, surprise) the video into the post. The same could go for thumbnail images, which, when clicked on open up the main image browser popup that you get when reading reviews (hell, let us upload our own images to use in the image browser)

2 - Now that this next generation of consoles has rolled around, it is now easier for us members to get our hands on demos and BETAS before the game is released. So wouldn't it be cool if we were able to write our own articles (like a 'hands-on' article for Home, etc) on unfinised/unreleased games.

3 - Let people vote for the best reviews and the best reviewers. So, if someone writes a good non-biased review, readers can give the review a rating. Reviewers who have high ratings on all of their reviews could get a direct link at the bottom of an official review. So a user submits a review, their score gets noted, if they have a reviewer score which is in the top three scores, a direct link to their review gets added at the bottom of the official review (How many times am I gonna use the word 'review' in one, goddamned, paragraph).

4 - Stick in a reputation thing like in Xbox L!ve. This could be shown under their username at all times. If a user makes a brilliant post which is factual, non-biased, or just plain funny and it really impresses a user, they could click 'add' which adds reputation points. If a post is rude, fanboyish, or trolling, then a user can minus reputation points. And add in user comments about other users. So when people click on someones username to go into their profile, they then click user comments they can then read what other members feel about this user, and they can add comments themselves.

5 - At the end of news articles just add a little poll based on the article itself. So, if it was the article abou Ken K. retiring put a poll at the bottom: 'Is this because of the PS3s lacklusters sales', and on the Microsoft H&E division loosing tons of money have a poll asking 'Is this because of X360s lackluster sales'. And in rumour control, members can vote whether they think a rumour is true or false.

1. That would take alot of space , and cause some pages that have what you said, slowdown

2.You can write your impressions regarding about games in your blog, thats what blogs are for.

3. like ltom said, this can be abuse alot, for example ou got alot of friends and wrote a undetailed or bias(whatever you called it) review, and all your friends recommended, while someone with a few or no friends wrote a detailed review and only a few people reommended it.

4. This can be abusible too, what if someone that is very popular and there are some people that are jealous of their success, they will just give them the lowest scores for no reason. There are alot of people, that decreased their reputation not just only trolling or rude things, but for jealously or just plain ridculous things.

5. You can easily make a poll on the forums regarding about those matters

Well, This is what I was talking about..

and I just meant PS3 because it is one of the present gen console not expanded.. PS2 is the second one mentioned and hence expanding the second one and not the first one wont be that right. also Expanding PSP would take so much space:P

am I the only one getting this new bar ?

Reetesh

It looks like it...:?

Thats strange. Any explanation from GS guys?

and in addition to all that.. I liked it when the news was the second link.. now I am clicking Videos by mistake everytime I come to GS :P

well expand ps3 into playstation 3, is taking space and it will look kinda ugly. The Cheat Codes page isn't that necessary to put on the main bar, its not that important.

dude the cod tournment wasn't 3 hour, it was around a hour or so, its not that easy to put a marathon anytime, i know theres one marathon that can be downloaded but there is some issues with it, sometimes it tends to stop anytime or something.

You just have to watch it when its live, and also theres only a few or only one person that operates all the audio and video stuff when it comes to a marathon.

I see that the top link bar with links to things has finally changed..

GBA,GC, XBX, Mob have been removed...

But the thing looks a bit too empty now.  there is a lot of empty space beside news...

Why dont you make "Cheat Codes "  as just Cheats and Expand PS3 as Playstation 3, or something in that lines.. it would look lot better.. at present the right side looks a lot expanded.. and not that good :?

Or maybe the other users have something better to suggest?

Reetesh

what? gba, gc, and xbox didn't get removed. Many games have codes in them that are accessible to a console that which are cheats, and also does it matter if its Cheat Codes? If they expand ps3 into playstation 3, then why not expand gc into gamecube, psp into playstation portable? It doesn't look that expanded, if they expand all those consoles' slogans into their full name, then it won't look that good.

This is really needed. I HATE having to do a regular search for a game, count how far down the list is and then do it all over again when uploading a video.icytower38

Its not very hard or complicated process to do, just type the specific game you requested and scroll down to it

i don't agree to this idea.  producing a marathon is long or hard process, making it replayable is even tougher to do. You just have to either get some time off to watch the marathon or just watch the highlights

theres no great adventures games out there, perhaps try the sam & max chapters but other than that no thers no good adventures games out there besides sam & max, dreamfall and indigo prohecrey around these years only in around early 2000 or late '90s, that you will get great adventures games
