I wonder how they'll do it as a prequel? They'll have to put in some new mechanics to keep our attention, I think, since the earlier you go, the less variety in authentic firearms you're going to have, and the pacing and frequency of unlocking new guns was one of the many, many things that made Red Dead Redemption so enjoyable.

@jewell21: The devs have always been super vague about this game from the beginning, and I think their reasons are good. The more unknowns there are, the more amazing it'll be to discover those unknowns. They really want the game to surprise you, like when we played games as kids and didn't have any gaming news and no prior expectations about the adventure we were about to journey on, not even the basic mechanics, but discovering those things was a big part of the fun. It's interesting how foreign such a concept is to us now, but maybe it's going to pay off.

Below what I'd expect to rebuy it for the Wii U. Sure, there's a little bit more than just higher rendering resolution such as higher quality textures, but Twilight Princess still shows its age. Even though the game still looks great in terms of art style and certain lighting effects, that low polygon count and those dated assets are pretty telling. Given the quality we've seen from remakes like Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask, it's kind of a shame that Twilight Princess HD didn't get the same treatment.

Probably due to higher resolution textures on PS4 and PC I imagine?

@brylynt: Mass Effect 2 destroyed the series compared to Mass Effect 1. But to counter your ridiculous straw-man argument anyway, I wasn't saying that, as anyone who has half a brain could realize. I was saying that they improved the shooting mechanics, which is always welcome, but at the same time they shifted everything (as apparent from the dialogue system and leveling) over to a much less character-based system. It's going to be the least role-play-oriented Fallout yet (excluding the atrocity that is Fallout Shelter).

From around 2 hours of leaked Fallout 4, I've realized this: Fallout 4 will be incredibly disappointing. Bad? No, probably not -- almost certainly going to have fun with it -- but I'm going to be horribly disappointed by this game where shooting mechanics have now trumped role-playing depth.

@merwanor:I think you're being way too pessimistic. When I played the Beta when it first came out, of course there were moments where --- especially on Walker Assault -- no one knew how to play for objectives and just went for kills in this sloppy mess of action. But during the last days of the Beta, people were exceptionally more coordinated, it felt. There were times where things came together in epic fashions that felt like they were straight out of a real Star Wars battle. I remember playing as rebels on Walker Assault this one time where it seemed like everyone on the team just knew what they were doing. We were having this vicious battle over one of the uplinks when two enemy AT-STs came lumbering in, firing salvo after salvo at us. They were completely decimating us, pushing right through our defensive line while we could barely even halve the health of one. Then, just as they were about to reach the uplink, two X-Wings came swooping down and simultaneously, in this massive explosion of ash and blaster fire, completely destroyed both AT-STs. It felt immensely cool, and really was a moment where I thought they captured some of the magic of what a Star Wars game should be. Needless to say, it certainly feels like EA's going to earn my money this time around.

@glockguy1926: Developers have to be very, very crucial and extremely thorough in their coding to implement a good system. Part of that thoroughness means coding to implement a system that feels good given certain factors in mind, which is why his 30 fps comment is relevant. It takes a huge amount of work to get a good shooting system, and is the reason why some games feel far smoother at 30 fps than others. You're not going to have a great time with a shooting system that feels very light, fast, and precision-oriented like CS:GO's at 30 fps, but you'll have a much better time with a shooting system like Destiny's (allegedly) or the newest Battlefront which emphasizes punchy shooting and more hulking camera movements over speed and accuracy.

I think it should be noted that Project Nevada includes most of the best weapons from Fallout 1, 2, and 3 on its own, so I'm not sure why the mod showcased after Project Nevada was there as the weapons featured in that mod are redundant if you're already rocking PN.
