So, I just finished Dead Space today after whimping out several times and turning it off in utter disgust the hundredth time I saw Isaac's spine separate from his flesh. I started my second play through of it today with my pimped out rig etc, I just wanted to know if it's really worth downloading any of the weapon/rig packs, or if they're just there to look good and pack a slightly bigger punch?

Unfortunately there are always going to be idiots, no matter what community it is you're referring to. This is part of the reason I don't do online gaming and just ignore/run away from people trying to hassle me when I play on WoW etc.

People post their own reviews online anyway, and I tend to read both professional and player reviews before I consider buying anything. Player reviews can be just as, if not more so, bias than a professional writer so I don't see that it really matters who it is coming from or what they are saying about it. Just go for the concensus of opinion, and you should be alright.

I'm not sure if i'm going to get this or not. I got a chance to play it a few weeks back and I was very impressed with what I saw. I can't see me using it on a regular basis though. Depends what games they decide to release with it, and I mean proper games, not Kinectimals etc. It's a maybe for me, but £130 is a bit much.

I like it, but I certainly didn't love it. It was never going to live up the hype, or the original Bioshock. It tried, and it was well done, but I think with the next one (which I don't think they should be making) they need to take it away from Rapture. Perhaps have flashback levels if anything, but put it in a new environment.

They have changed too many things. I'm exactly the same as others you mentioned in your original post, loved FFX and couldn't stand FFXII and am really not interested in FFXIII at all. My issues with these games? The battle system for one. God forbid I make an actual choice. I know a lot of people really went off the whole turn based thing with a whole list of things to choose from, but that was my favourite part. I love turn based. The latest games have been more like action battles, but not even like Kingdom Hearts of Star Ocean. It's been somewhere inbetween that just didn't work for me. If you're going to make it real time action, just give me a sword and a button to assign a spell to it and leave it at that. Don't even get me started on the whole 'Auto battle' thing in FFXIII

They have also been making some really unlikeable characters, or characters that I just don't care about. I haven't really liked a single FF character since X. I just can't make myself care about anything of them.

This is definitely something that will end up happening sooner or later. I know I was SO annoyed when my data for Mystic Quest on the SNES just vanished because it was a really old cartridge. I had the same thing happen with my save data for Soul Calibur 3 on the PS2, the memory card became corrupted/damaged and that was the end of it.

HDD's will inevitably get wiped somehow, game discs will get scratches on them or just fail to work for some random reason. Technology isn't perfect, there is a flaw in everything. To save deterioration happening I can see everything going digital, but as I said, the HDD is still a physical component that can and will deteriorate no matter what we do. Data gets damaged if we transfer it as well.

For me, it was one of the battles with that thing that couldn't be killed. I managed to run into another room, got to the elevator i'd been trying to get to and breathed a huge sigh of relief. I neglected to remember that these things could come through the vents though. I don't think i've ever screamed so much in my life. It was so satisfying when I finally got rid of that thing.

Final Fantasy XII was a chore to me. 120 hours of my life later, and I didn't really have anything to show for it. It was dull, and I only completed it because I was blissfully ignorant to the fact that the game was in fact not going to improve. I was living in hope that it would, because i'm a big Final Fantasy fan, but it was just the most painful 120 hours of my life.

There are only certain games that will be buy on day of release games, so I only have to shell out £40 once every couple of months or so. Otherwise, I just wait for them to come down in price, get them second hand or borrow them off a friend.
