not quite sure I will get this, I got Diablo 3 on launch day , because I was a fan of the older Diablo games, but Diablo 3 bored me with some of the stupid design decisions and online mishaps.
the expansion will have to do something pretty special for me to care.
so basically he is saying "you people are too stupid to decide what game you like, we will decide what you like"
I don't see how a game which may well appeal more to a different culture might not appeal to me at all , I really should be able to decide.
regarding things like legal restrictions, yeah , I would understand if it was for certain individual games, but not to every game outside of a specific region.
I think the kind of people who actually import games, are generally knowledgeable enough to know what game they are getting, and if they want to play a game from Japan , or anywhere else, they should.
this is absolutely true, there is also the problem of parents buying their children a game not suitable for their age (usually due to not wanting to deal with the nagging children), they don't look at the box or ratings, and then complain.
for most children , the money supply for games begins and ends with the parents, its up to parents to make sure their children don't play violent games.
and its not hard to make sure either, even without the ratings, its pretty obvious that when a game is called "Modern Warfare" and has pictures of soldiers on the cover, that the game is not a going to be a peaceful game with no violence or blood.
maybe they still think its 1996 when we didn't know much about games on the other side of the world
its a pointless thing, they will region lock it, yet very quickly it will get bypassed by somebody with enough skill to do so.
this is of course so they can complain about piracy, which leaves them with a very simple choice, either provide people with the option to buy games from abroad (a lot of games still don't make to the PAL regions) , or help bring those games over.
considering the fact that a multiplatform collection was released not that long ago , and that MGS4 and MGS1 are available, both in physical and digital forms cheaply, I really don't see why this is necessary.
