You think within the same buisness these companies dont do research on their competetors, please dont fool yourself. MS would need to answer because this statement makes them look as if they are losing their momentum and can hurt their image. Companies respond to bad press or false claims by competitors, they dont however respond to fanboy rumors.

Because anyone can figure out there is no way for Sony to determine accurate sales numbers for the competition and they don't need to. The burden of proof lies on Sony, which they can't provide...

Another valid point. If MS is the only company with accurate sales numbers and Sony tends to lie, how do we know Sony knows what they are talking about?

If SOny is exaggerating or incorrect MS would chime in just like Sony did when MS tried to make it seem like thier UK sales were great by saying they doubled their sales, then Sony and the UK sales record chimmed in and filled in the numbers MS carefully left out.

If you dont hear MS comment on this its because its true.

Thats not the case. Sony said a while ago that the PS3 will overtake the 360 in total sales in Europe a while ago this summer. They were right and they even gave exact numbers and specifically said they outsold the 360 in Europe. If MS felt this was incorrect they could have chimmed in like they have done in the past but the truth is its true.

This isnt like when MS said they doubled their 360 sales in UK, but refused to give exact numbers and when Sony and the UK sales tracker released the info it turned out they still were outsold by the PS3 and Wii. Sony gave clear numbers, if its wrong trust me MS will respond if they dont its because they cant spin this in their favor.

And as for your belief that there is no way to determine accurate sales numbers, that only goes for STATISTICAL groups, not Sony. You see statistical groups cant determine accurate sales because there is no NPD for all of Europe so many countries numbers are a mystery but Sony knows because they sell and ship these consoles so their numbers are the most accurate.

No other gaming site has accurate European numbers, the only European numbers we have are Sonys, Nintendos, and MSs.

That wasn't very clever really because I highly doubt MS is going to make such a big mistake again with their build quality, Sony sorted their act out after the DRE issues and look how well Nintendo has turned things around learning from their mistakes.

You make a good point. After all, as soon as MS found out about the hardware problems causing RROD, they jumped right on the issue and fixed it. The stopped selling knowingly faulty hardware to the public and made sure anyonw who had already got an RROD got new hardware that wouldn't RROD again.

Oh wait. No they didn't. They continue to make, ship and sell hardware they KNOW is faulty and prone to failure. Why? Because they know lemmings will gladly buy broken hardware if MS tells them its cool.

But I'm sure they won't do this next gen.
