My kid wants to get into Skylanders, but I'm not really sure what's worth buying, or really how it works. So I have a few questions:

- Do all the Skylander figures work on all the games, or are there only specific sets for each game?

- Does the reader work across all Skylander games, or do you need to buy the starter pack for each game?

-What's the best place to start? Trap Team? Super Chargers? Something else?

Thanks

I don't get it. Why are some of these so rare? What finally triggered my anger about this is the fact that I can't find a Toad amiibo anywhere for a non-scalper price. These just came out.

They know these things are super hot right now, so why are they making so few of them? I'm not a business man, but I think if I'm producing something that is highly in demand, that I should make an effort to get as many out there as possible. Why are they doing the exact opposite?

The lady at Toys R Us said she only got two for the whole store. Two. The four other places I checked were simply sold out.

I guess I just came here to vent a little bit, and see if there's any other people out there as confused with Nintendo's strategy on this. I'm not impressed. This makes Nintendo look incapable of taking any risk whatsoever. To me, this is another strong sign that they are slowly but surely going under. Because I can't think of any other reason they'd be doing this the way they are.

I'm proud to say I just bought a Wii U, and have next to no interest in either of the other 2.

Nintendo has remained the most consistent game developer on the market since forever. I've been playing their games most of my life, and have rarely been dissappointed. I can't go an entire console cycle without the Mario, Link, Samus, DK, etc. It's a must for myself.

I've also been a long time Playstation gamer. Nearly 20 years on Sony consoles. And I have no issue with Xbox gaming, I've just never been able to bring myself to pay for their over-priced, technologically inferior consoles (last 2 gens anyway).

The reason I'm not as interested in ps4 or Xbox One is mainly because they can't guarantee a quality gaming experience on their own. They're completely at the mercy of 3rd party developers. And in my opinion, most 3rd party devs capable of producing AAA gaming experiences lost their way many years ago. I know I'm preaching to a bunch of people who probably don't see it that way, but I truly do see it that way.

Wii U and PC for me. Pure fun with the Wii U, and some thinkin mans games on the PC. The perfect combo for my tastes.

@SolidGame_basic: one can never trump the other. Not consistently anyway. These are 2 different worlds of gaming you're talking about. PC gaming is much deeper and complex in every way, especially in gameplay and options. Consoles are more tuned for casual gamers. The best example I could use to illustrate the differences would be a game like Civilization IV on PC, compared to Civ Rev on 360/PS3. C4 is a thousand times deeper than it's console cousin. It's on a different galaxy all together.

I hardly think these 2 worlds of gaming should ever be compared to one another. It's like beer vs hard liquor: they're both there to create the same effect, but in the end it's your preference towards your own personal tastes that will make the decision on what you think is better.

Some kid came over and messed with my game. Now I'm stuck using the D-pad for my attacks instead of the B button.

How do I fix this?

Since 1984. First system was an Atari (technically my first was the Coleco Telstar). Frostbite and Megamania were my favorites back then.

Then I went pretty much exclusively Nintendo games from about '88 until '93, then I just hung in arcades for my gaming fix until about '96 when I started gaming on the Playstation. After that gen I've always had a Nintendo and Sony console.

Currently playing in the PS3/Wii era, but by the end of this year I'll have a PS4 and Wii U.

I don't think I'll quit gaming. Even if I stopped playing, I think I'd always be a collector so long as physical media continues to exist.

@KBFloYd: I guess if nothing's announced in the next 6-8 weeks I'll buy the Mario/Luigi U console bundle + MK8 on the side.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a MK8 themed Wii U for now I guess.

@Chozofication: I've actually had problems with at least a couple of games because there was no manual. UFC 3 is the one I remember the most. It has a tutorial, but a lot of the advanced stuff isn't adequately explained or shown by example. And sometimes you need a quick reference to the moves list when you're starting out.

Basically if a game company isn't putting out a paper manual, then they should at least provide a digital one.

For example when you buy a PS1 classic on PSN, you can view the digital manual by pressing the Home button and selecting it. Every game should have that.

@f22_king_raptor: Thanks for the link, but that's for the special edition game bundle for Europe. I'm looking for a Wii U console bundled with the game. And I'm in North America. But thanks, much appreciated.
