While I don't always agree with her scoring, I do often agree with her remarks concerning the overall game experience. I think Carolyn just wants to see the full potential realized in the games she reviews. If the next RE game turns out to be much better, and she gave this an 8, would she really be able to give the new one a 10? Food for thought. I've come to realize that Carolyn's scores are more in line with what they ought to be.
It's the other journalists that are padding other games' scores, which is in turn throwing everyone and the entire scoring system off. When I see 6.5 I say dear god, not buying, but realistically 6.5 isn't a terrible score, we've just become accustomed to seeing 6.5 paired with horrible games.
So in Carolyn's defense, despite the fact that I am still irked by Luigi Mansion's score, 6.5 doesn't always mean the game is bad...it just depends on who is reviewing the game.
@jmc88888 @grbolivar @deathstream @jrgoalie33 I don't really think PCs and Consoles should be compared in this way. They each suit different genres better.
I would prefer to play a MMORPG or FPS on a PC. There are so many more games available on the PC. Consoles are great due to first-party peripherals and often seamless multiplayer support. Local play also can't be beaten on a console either.
At the end of the day it comes down to what you prefer / need to do on your system.
@RoachRush GW2 does what it does quite well. It runs great on lower-end pcs and is a great solo experience. SWTOR wasn't even competing with WOW, it was simply ripping it off. Almost every aspect of the game was a derivation of WOW gameplay and UI.
@TJSpyke Dear Sir who art-holier-than-thou, don't sit there and act like you've never illegally streamed, torrented, or downloaded music/tv/movies/games.
@Dredcrumb9 @oflow It's not really the story itself that is so amazing, it's how the story is fleshed out. It's highly immersive and 100% streamlined. This is what makes Injustice's story mode amazing.
