@Poodger: This is true, he did mention that. I'm hoping part of that is just to be a little cheeky only to later surprise us with some really great new fighter announcements before December. Fingers crossed!
@P00DGE: I think you may be making the assumption that this is the final roster. I would like to believe that Sakurai and the team still have some cards up their sleeve, as far as new fighters are concerned. I think with the new IPs like Arms and Splatoon, and listening to fan feedback putting Ridley in finally, they're still going to be adding onto the list. I too would be a little disappointed in not getting that First Day with New Smash Bros feeling, with a dozen new characters to play around with, as someone who's played 100s of hours with each game since the N64. But I'm holding out faith man! I trust Ninty!
@ChldsPlay: The Tom Holland Spidey is actually just on loan to Marvel Studios from Sony. Whatever that means...But from what I understand, Sony/Columbia is still the studio making the solo films with creative input from the folks at the MCU, and only for a select few movies. That means Spidey can appear in the MCU stuff, but as far as the other 'cinematic universe' stuff from Sony goes, they're still stuck to that studio. TLDR: Spiderman can swing (heuheu) between the studios somewhat fluidly, but the MCU and Sony, er, CU, aren't colliding any time soon.
@Terminator95: I don't know about you, but I when I was under 13 I had very little interest in games like Resident Evil, Nier, and a psychological thriller/simulator like Hellblade...
