But most of the ps3 player buys legit games though used game selling/trading is rampant around here.

Free market working as intended.

@KHAndAnime: Lower than $100? That PC is literally worthless. You'd have to pay someone to recycle it.

Pretty much nothing will work on that computer. Even really old games like Baldur's Gate is 2GB in size, probably more harddrive space than that computer has. You might be able to get away with Duke Nukem 3D and a couple others but you're best bet is to just toss that thing in the garbage, sorry.

Bit hyperbolic? His PC has 1Gb RAM and Windows XP installed. It most certainly has more than 2 GB of hard-drive.

To be honest I don't think it would be able to run Painkiller or Unreal Tournament 2004 well. But Baldur's Gate? I think it will have no problem.

Here's the requirements for Baldur's Gate 2: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=676&game=Baldurs%20Gate%20II:%20Shadows%20of%20Amn

@neatfeatguy: I assure you I didn't mean to come accross as a jerk. I was making a joke. I'm sorry if I've given that impression. I only said that because you were talking about gog in the beginning of the post, no ill intentions.

If you read my entre post you will also notice I mentioned games that are not on gog (FFVII, Age of mythology...) so of course he can buy them. GOG does have the added bonuses of drm-free and tweaking of older games so they're more guaranteed to work. Also they're having a sale right now and today is the last day which means all daily bundles until now will be up again RIGHT NOW! (EDIT: Oops actually the last day is tomorrow op. Sorry.) You should check it out OP.

Edit: holy cow, damn the Portuguese autocorrect.

I wonder how much my purple-transparent gameboy color is worth. That thing spent 90% of it's time running Pokemon Silver. Good times...

@neatfeatguy: None of those games are on gog.com. such accuracy. But they would be good choices yes.

To OP: GOG is a digital games store that sells completely DRM-free games. No activation or internet connection required to play. You get a setup file and that's it.

Originally GOG specialized in old games and while this is no longer true, they've been adding newer games, mostly indie and always drm-free, they're still your best option for older games as they are tweaked so they work easily on modern PCs.

Now, for actual recommendations, it would help immensely if you said what genres you prefer. Anyway here's some recommendations from myself for some older games:

FPS: Painkiller, sin, Deus ex (FPS/RPG hybrid), System Shock 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 (my favorite multiplayer FPS of all time. Dumped countless hours on it).

RPG: baldur's gate 1+2, planescape torment, Anachronox

Platformers: all the raymans, Psychonauts and the Prince of Persia sands of time trilogy (sands of time, warrior within and two thrones).

Others: Sacrifice, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Urban Chaos.

Those are all on gog. Steam also has older games available but they might not work so easily without some tweaking if you have a more recent OS. Anyway from Steam I'd recommend:

Final Fantasy VII (now with proper sound!) And Age of Mythology (my favorite RTS of all time!).

Homeworld and homeworld 2 are to be re-released soon next year on steam to with remastered visuals. For the love of god get those games when they come out. The older versions will be available to.

Don't limit yourself to older games. Some newer games are not that demanding. Indies like FEZ, Braid or Freedom Planet will probably run well on your PC.

Another one I'm thinking of would be South Park the stick of truth. Considering the south park-style visuals I don't see that game being very demanding.

OK, I believe I've been successful in fnally uninstalling this thing.

Here's what I did:

1 - Use revo uninstaller to uninstall motioninjoy. Revo always starts by running the built-in uninstall and that didn't work, obviously, but then it scans the PC for leftover items. I simply deleted every file and registry item it found.
2 - Then I downloaded and installed the latest version of motioninjoy.
3 - Uninstalled motioninjoy normally and it worked.
4 - Used the command prompt to remove the motioninjoy driver package by following the instrunctions on the emulation general wiki: "http://emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/MotioninJoy"

It seems to have worked. Some registry keys are still in there but according to that page they shouldn't cause any problems... Let's hope that's true.

@neatfeatguy: Thank you for your answer but unfortunately it was a long time ago so a system restore is out of the question. I wouldn't even know what restore point to chose...

I just didn't know how bad it was until recently when I discovered and decided to install the SCP driver package. Which requires motioninjoy to be removed.

I tought about reinstalling a 32 bit version and uninstalling then. But zonealarm won't let the setup run because "it's a malicious application".

Why, thank you Zonealarm, but you're a bit late.

Should I disable ZA and do that?

What a darn cancer. I've been trying to get rid of this piece of **** software and I just can't find anyway to do it.

Here's the problem: Any guide I can find tells me to use the built in uninstall first. But when I try to run it, I get this this error: "This installation can only be uninstalled in 64-bit windows". WTH? Yes, my windows is 32-bit but why can't I uninstall it when it installed just fine in the first place?

Please PC gamespot, what can I do?

If you have a PS4 controller use it. The tools available allow it to simulate the 360 controller and even allow the trackpad to control the mouse pointer.

@Planeforger: Haha what? Sure, you might end up spending a lot more if you can't control yourself on sales but come on... The money spent on games is entirely up to you and the point still stands. The same amount of money will buy him more games on PC (or the same amount of games will cost him less).

But you're right in that there's so many more great games on PC, and if he ends up actually spending more that only means he gets to play even more great games so no problem there!

@notorious1234na:

We also know $600-$800 PCs don't last nor can they play the current high demanding games properly at optimal.

PS4s and XONE also don't play current high demanding games properly at optimal so how is this a problem. Playing everything on high may not be possible but it's not really a necessity and console versions often use "medium" settings and/or sub 1080p resolutions and many are locked at 30fps. A 800$ PC may not max everything but will still be better than a PS4/XONE.
