Companies would do the same for books, music, and movies, however there are obvious complications (against the norm, no connection to tech (books), can't link the media to an account)
A car has concrete value, entertainment does not. If i rent a game using redbox, get an entire playthrough out of it, and become completely bored with it, the game literally has no value to me anymore. This results in huge amounts of trading across large groups of consumers. Conversely, a car has value under almost all circumstances (necessity for most), and selling it has definitive downsides no matter how long you've owned it.
Additionally, if I get completely bored of said game and the publisher pushes the price down to 50% of the previous retail, I still wouldn't buy it. The entertainment value is completely gone and it is effectively worthless. A car and house, even if previously owned, would be worth buying if the price was cut.
Hmmm, this is confusing. Blizzard released specs for the beta, and they are much higher than this. The recommended GPU was a gtx 260 :/ http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=40446
BTW, the 360 runs at a higher fps than the PS3, which is why it looks worse. If both had the same visuals, there would be a negligable amount of performance difference.
