I need to see what's trending music-wise to figure out if there's sum'n I'm missing, but I'm gonna pull a Knife Run/Isthisit type thing because I gotta see if most or at least some folks are still jamming piff tho'......peep game on my favorite ish so far this year. Oh,and if you don't like any of em',I will be convinced that Vyse hijacked your profile:
1.)Joey Bada$$-1999
Please tell me some of you guys have heard this mixtape,PLEASE tell me. This has been in my Beats By Dre headphones for quite a while now due to the genius this 16 year old has stored in his musack. He has that mid 90's boom bap rap golden era sound vibe,so I'm sure at least 90% of the people here who haven't heard this yet will enjoy it. MF Doom produced some of the tracks,so I know that'll give some of you cats a boner.
Songs to Youtube:"FromDaTomb","Daily Routine","Survival","Hardknock"
2.)Teyana Taylor-The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor
I've really been hating on R&B the past couple years because R&B right now is pure asscheeks,no debating. But Teyana Taylor is one of the artists that I feel is kind of reviving it with material like this. Wale,Fabolous,Jadakiss, and a few more bless this mixtape with their presence.
Songs to Youtube:"DUI",Come On","Complicated","Her Room","You Know"
3.)Stalley-Savage Journey to the American Dream
What's up with that MMG tho'? I do think they're overrated to the mainstream, however I am a fan of Stalley. When I first peeped this,I was like "Meh,it's not bad,but not that good" but after a couple more listens he's growing on me. Not to mention he murked all of his verses on the new MMG album (Which was mediocre btw smh).
Songs to Youtube:"Hammers and Vogues","Cold","Hell's Angel","Live at Blossom"
4.)Red Cafe-Hell's Kitchen
Now I will say, this isn't a lyrical-individual-criminal-subliminal vocab type mixtape obviously. But it's summertime so we all need anthems to bang in the subwoofer that's ignant yet a little verbalous at the same time. Red Cafe has never been anyone special on the mic,but he always delivers when it's his turn to IMO. Bang this in the candy slab
Songs to Youtube:"Fly Together Remix","Brinks Truck","Let it Go Remix"
5.)Smoke DZA-Rugby Thompson
I'm not even a fan of Smoke DZA,but this album really made me do a 180 and actually give him more of a chance. Most of the people here who know me well know that I despise monotone rappers (With the exception of Guru and sometimes Currensy) but the chill theme of this LP got me bobbing my head. Worth checking out and trying at least.
Songs to Youtube:"Baleedat",New Jack","Game"
6.)Childish Gambino-Royalty
*Sigh* This mixtape right here nucca.......THIS MIXTAPE RIGHT HERE NUCCA!!! I know Gambino is a toss-up with his music in the past on here, even I thought that after hearing Camp which was so-so. But this mixtape that was just release a couple days ago made me finally label him as a rapper instead of an actor trying to rap. Pure piff, straight up and down. Bun B,RZA,Schoolboy Q,Ab Soul,Danny Brown, and others make appearances on it. Definitely sum'n to jam
Songs to Youtube:"Black Faces","Unnecessary","Won't Stop","American Royalty"
Honorable Mentions:Meek Mill-Dreamchasers 2,Chip The Ripper-Tell Ya Friends,Ace Hood-Starvation,B.O.B-Strange Clouds
I apologize for not being able to post the songs up for ya'll with an instant click. I'm on Firefox and I can't paste anything :|.......Oh,and before anybody goes ballistic on me,yes I've heard K.R.I.T's album. I think it's piff,I only didn't put it up because I know most of you have heard it already.
