I choose Dota 2. If you want to truly learn to strategize and make quick decisions on the spot and not be as forgiven for making mistakes, Dota2 is for you. If you want to have casual fun in a more relaxed environment, go with League. I've played at least 150 League matches and closing in on 100 Dota2 matches, and I prefer Dota2 hands down because it is more of a challenge. It also has a WAY better business model. It is obvious what League's business model has turned into. Riot points are just as bad as Microsoft points on XBL. At least with the Steam Funds you can spend it on ANYTHING In the Steam store.

But either way, both require a pretty big investment to get into. You have to learn all of the heroes/champions, item builds, tactics, last hitting, etc... but Dota2 definitely requires a bigger investment IMO. However, it has a bigger return in the end - it is more rewarding and fun. To me anyway :D

Sometimes when I am listening to music, I'll hear my hard drive make a spin sound as if it is waking up, then the music resumes. This can happen when I come back to my computer after it has been idle, or when I am actively using it while listening to music. I have a system drive that has windows and a few programs on it, and my other hard drive (both internal) has all of my music and data storage.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or if it is a sign that my hard drive could be dying. It's been doing it for a few months so I'm not sure. It's 1 TB in size with about 700gb free, and I believe it is a Western Digital Black if that helps.

Dungeon Defenders added some Halloween content and I think they have some other holiday maps and challenges as well. For the non-PC games, the only one I can think of is Demon's Souls' tendency events for holidays.

I use motionjoy and it works fine. You can even set it to be recognized as other controllers (as someone else said, using as a 360 controller because games will recognize it easier).

Why would someone want to use a ps3 controller on PC? Because I only have a ps3 in my house and happen to have extra controllers :) so much better for emulators.

[QUOTE="Beetroot502"]

The entire Grand Theft Auto series. I have fun for about 20 minutes going on a murder spree, but the missions and multiplayer (GTA:IV) were so boring I wanted to die.

Halo series. Something overly generic and plain about it, couldn't understand why people go so hard on it.

Late CoD series. Not much to say other than they've beaten a dead horse that outsells itself every year somehow.

Diablo II and III. Played them for a little while. Wanted to love them like everyone else did. Got bored after a short time.

Skyrim. I think I spent more time modding this game than playing it. Always felt like there was something missing, couldn't keep me interested. Very impressive game but not enough essence there to keep me into it.

Crysis. Graphically - I get it. Gameplay wise? Meh for me.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm not saying these were poorly produced or were "bad" games, but they just felt "meh" to me. Especially Halo. Flame me

So you didn't like Diablo 2 , Halo, Skyrim and Crysis. I would love to know which games you like?

Some of my favorite games of all time are Final Fantasy X, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls (waiting for PC version to start up again). Lately I've been playing Dota2 I find it's more mature than it's counterparts and I like the $ model better as well. I grew up playing SNES, and still love playing Super Mario and Donkey Kong 1-3 from time to time. Waiting for Guild Wars 2, loved the beta weekends and the direction the game is going. I'm also an ex-WoW player of 6 or 7 years - something I'm not proud of but I grew out of it as did most of my friends. Yeah, I've become a bit of a PC / gaming elitist over the years:oops: I'm just picky and particular. I loved Oblivion when it first came out on the 360 (prior to my 3 times red-ring) and I got all of the achievements.

But while I'm here - another well recieved game I remembered is Red Dead Redemption. I wanted to like it so bad, but the more I played it the more it felt like GTA (same engine if I'm not mistaken?) with a western skin. The voice acting, story, and span of the world were impressive and beautiful, but gameplay wise it was boring.

PC gaming has always been like this. It's only a matter of time before the console devs adapt it completely IMO. They're obviously talking about blocking used sales, I could see them having you tie the game key to an account eventually for all games on console (PSN, XBL...like Steam..etc).

Performance wise I can max it out now and it runs SO MUCH better. Before, I would get the same performance no matter what the settings were.

In games I thought that if you replace your GPU with a significantly better one and it yields no higher performance, you have a CPU bottleneck.

Depends on how CPU intensive the game is as well. As others said, benchmark software is the better alternative to swapping GPUs to test that.

Having played the beta all weekend, here are my overall impressions of the game.

What I like about it:

  • Original art design / graphics and spell effects are beautiful and fluent
  • No subcription fee but with microtrans done non pay-to-win style
  • Satisfying combat that isn't completely number based
  • Skill sets depend on the weapons you equip - swappable skill sets / swappable weapons in combat to adjust to the situation
  • Questing that isn't a boring grind - in addition to "dynamic" events that anyone can join in to
  • Decent voice-overs, some quests have choices that shape your story
  • Leveling is somewhat slower paced (Leveled to about 15 during beta while trying other classes)
  • You can play with anyone regardless of "home world" which allows friends to connect more easily
  • WvW PvP, stat tracking and realm bonuses
  • Exploration is encouraged and rewarded

What I don't like about it:

  • Needs some serious optimization. I am way above the reccommended requirements and I have to significantly lower my settings.

There wasn't much I didn't like about the beta. I'm a bit of an MMO veteran and I feel I will play GW2 for a very long time at retail. No subscription fee is a big relief of not having that obligation to play to get my money's worth. There were 2 races that weren't playable, and the guild/party system was not very functional so I cannot comment on how they work. But all of the guild options for upgrades were able to be viewed, and they were pretty overwhelming and interesting. This game just feels "right" to me. It has all of the best features of every MMO I've played, plus original lore and background that make this game it's own.
