Dota 2 or League of legends

I've only ever played either one for a little bit but I enjoy them and was wondering which one is easier to get the hang of and more user friendly? I am not trying to start a war between fanboys either I just kind of want to gage which one to try and jump into. Thanks

I have yet to play Dota 2 but from what I've read LoL is much easier to get the hang of. 

League of legends is easier to get into however both communities are terrible so going in be prepared for a lot of extremely rude people.Empirefrtw

Which one is better to start with?  A proper RTS game and not its stripped down derivative.

I prefer LoL, I know it's easier than DOTA2 but I like how they removed some of the harder mechanic's like denying.

Dota 2, its only in beta and is already better. Also the community in LoL is terrible.

I play Dota 2 simply because I don't have to download a separate client for it. 

DotA 2 is harder, but much deeper and rewarding. Plus, you have all heroes available from the start. LoL is basicaly a super dumbed down version of DotA with a cash store and out of game bonuses to justify the shop and the grind.

.01% is just a number I pulled out of my ass because I cant remember any of the real values and couldnt be bothered to look them up. Nice that you have to take everything so literal though. 

League of Legends. Most of the things they took out from dota formula i found made the game more fun. Both are just as deep and complex, just one has a little bit more micro. Plus you can build many of the characters multiple ways that are effective, you can in dota 2 but not to the extent of league of legends.

I like dota 2 better. I just enjoy how it plays and the art style 

DoTA 2 hands down, even the esport scene is making the shift. 250k average active users at one time and growing. Production Values and hero balance is much better. You don't need to grind at all, its all down to your skill. Where can you go wrong really?MBirdy88

Agreed. I think what makes Dota 2 very special is that the production is handled by Valve and game balance by Icefrog. It helps that the game has essentially  been balanced since 2003 and the current business model is superb.

I choose Dota 2. If you want to truly learn to strategize and make quick decisions on the spot and not be as forgiven for making mistakes, Dota2 is for you. If you want to have casual fun in a more relaxed environment, go with League. I've played at least 150 League matches and closing in on 100 Dota2 matches, and I prefer Dota2 hands down because it is more of a challenge. It also has a WAY better business model. It is obvious what League's business model has turned into. Riot points are just as bad as Microsoft points on XBL. At least with the Steam Funds you can spend it on ANYTHING In the Steam store.

But either way, both require a pretty big investment to get into. You have to learn all of the heroes/champions, item builds, tactics, last hitting, etc... but Dota2 definitely requires a bigger investment IMO. However, it has a bigger return in the end - it is more rewarding and fun. To me anyway :D
