Yeah, that's a great justification. "We thought what Sony is doing is not fair, so we decided to do the same thing." Only they bought up the company so that they're not allowed to make any deals with anyone anymore. MS could have just offered them a better deal instead but that's now how MS rolls. No, they need to own everything.

@BlackDiamond81: Exclusives help sell consoles, which helps build your brand and make lots of profits. Everyone knows that, especially MS. And since hardware doesn't matter on PC all they need is a digital store to sell games, without having to pay any middlemen. That's highy profitable. Sony does not have a PC digital game store, so they have little reason to offer their exclusives for PC. But they frequently do so anyway now. And yet people still complain because MS releases pretty much every game on PC as well. As if they had any reason not to. Nobody's gonna buy their console just to play one of their exclusives. Not like they have any worth mentioning anyway. We'll see how Starfield with its 30fps only mode will turn out.

@ormgaard: MS says a lot of things. Most of which turn out to be wrong not long after. And Sony has already started releasing games for PC as well. You only seem to forget that MS is owning the PC market and they would like to get a share of Valve's digital game sales. Sony has nothing to gain aside from a bit more money by offering its exclusives on PC. So if you wanted to use that as an argument, ask yourself why MS is not releasing Bethesda's games on PS consoles anymore. Nothing MS does is every out of nicety. And it's disturbing to see how many people like to believe otherwise.

@sladakrobot: I don't know what you're talking about. How is a 10 year deal after which MS is most likely going to stop releasing games for Sony's consoles supposed to be great for Sony? Who gives a ****? We all know what's going to happen right after that deal is over. MS just sees it as an investment, as they do with everything. And all they care about is taking over the console market. While telling you stuff about how it will help competition and provide players with more choices. When more and more games get released exclusively on their console. And you seem to be defending that, simply because Sony makes deals like that, too. So why not instead of reducing the power of one big corporation give everyone else more power? Great idea. Especially when it comes to a company that has already had the monopoly in the PC market since the dawn of time and has crushed all potential competitors before they could become a threat. And now as a result is making more profit each year than most countries in the world.

You really need to get your head out of your ass. Not everyone is invested in some patty console war. "My console is the best." Grow up. These are giant fucking corporations we're talking about that are dividing up the world between them. And you're cheering them on as they **** you over more and more.

@YukoAsho: MS is always thinking bigger than just one crappy videogame like COD. If you have practically unlimited funds then you can afford to invest into things that can bring you greater profits down the line. Even if it might take decades as it's likely to be with Game Pass at its current price point. And MS' biggest interest is still to rule the console market. So they don't care much about COD and the profits they'd make from owning the franchise each year. They care more about putting their console at the top and they'll gladly invest billions to make it happen eventually. Not like they have any better use for those dozens of billions in profits that keep coming in each year anyway.

As if anyone was surprised by that. Interesting though that MS would even go back on the deal Bethesda had made with Disney. No doubt MS payed them off since Disney surely would have liked their licensed games to be released on as many platforms as possible.

And yet MS is still trying to convince everyone that they're not this kind of company and that they're buyout of Activision would somehow improve competition and choice for gamers, instead of returning things back to past times when most games were exclusive to different platforms.

@gamerbum: I don't remember Sony making claims about how they'd never make those games exclusive to their platform. MS is the only company making such riduculous claims. And only the Xbox fanboys seem to believe it. The regulators don't seem to have fallen for it either.

MS should at least try to be honest about its intentions. So far all they've been doing is make up a bunch of crap, saying whatever they think might help them get the deal to go through. It's obvious why they've only offered a 10 year deal to Sony for COD. They're more than willing to make that deal for that timeframe to have the deal go through. Because after that they're free to do what they want and they sure as hell would not prolong the deal anymore. Not unless Sony is willing to put a lot of money on the table.

Yeah, Bethesda's example shows pretty well what MS's goal is. And how ridiculous those lies are they're telling about how they have no reason to make COD Xbox exclusive. Not that COD even matter that much when Activision has plenty of other games that will no doubt become Xbox exclusive as well, same as every single game Bethesda is releasing now. Not like those games wouldn't sell well on other platforms, same as COD does. But MS never cared about that. All they care about is getting a foothold in the console market. That is what everything they do is aimed at, especially the great offer they have with their Game Pass. Which is now finally slowly increasing in price it seems.

@zanarkand102: Depends on how talented that player is I guess. Though yeah, at that point you want to focus on building your career by getting into a big league team after finishing college. Money will come later anyway.
