There is so much more to it than any of that.  The addition of in game achievements and downloadable content, plus the ability to share things stored on your harddrive with friends seems to make something bigger than anything that's come before it.

I absolutely suck at online games and usually try to avoid getting schooled by some sixth grader who has nothing better to do with his time than play, but this game looks great and it's been a long time since I've played a game that allows you to do so much.  Actually I think Star Fox 64 was the last game I played that was even similar.  Man, I'm getting old.

For an X-Box 360 owner the PS3 will only be worth buying if either:

A. There is a PS3 exclusive title you must have such as Motor Storm or

B. You want a Blu-ray player

I own a 360, but I bought a PS3 because my PS2 was on its last legs so getting a PS3 also offered me the opportunity to continue playing good PS2 games that are still being released such as God of War2 and Rogue Galaxy.  I also use it to watch blu-ray movies.

This is pretty weird, I also had a bad experience when I went to gamestop to get Resistance for my PS3.  The dude working the counter asked me why I bought one and was saying things like blu-ray is a dying format and the system won't last.  He finished off with say "forget it, the damage is done"  The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth because I feel it's incredibly unprofessional to attack someone because they are trying to purchase something you personally don't like.  I'm a huge Sony fan, but I do own a 360 cause I love FFXI and Halo.  I don't see why people are treating this as if it's a war between systems and we, as consumers, have to take sides.  Competiton between companies has always been good for the people who are buying the product because it forces companies to be on their toes.  You don't see store owners who like Coke cursing at Pepsi fans who want buy that soda.  Right now is an incredible time to be a gamer because things are evolving so much, people should just enjoy and not be jerks about it.
