@Dilandau88: What, specifically, did you enjoy? I'm genuinely curious, because I struggle to see any redeeming qualities.
More often than not the humor fell flat, the subplots were 100% unnecessary filler, the big moments were anti-climactic, all the interesting stuff Ep.7 set up got axed, plot holes galore, the movie itself was thematically erratic, Luke got character assassinated, Leia is now Superman.....I guess the throne room scene was kinda cool, and the light speed kamikaze was sweet. Other than that, what the hell did this movie do right? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
@Flen15: Agreed on all counts. I was hopeful that they were going to address the 'like nothing happened in the originals' fault, given everything that episode 7 set up, but yeah.....that happened. It's a shame too, they could've done some really cool stuff with Snoke's backstory, how he formed the First Order, how he corrupted Kylo, what he did to Luke, training scenes, etc. Instead, they spent 3 hours playing 'what a twist' with woefully unnecessary subplots.
I don't even really mind that they did 'X, Y, and Z' (no spoilers) - but the way they did 'X, Y, and Z' was just lazily written, anti-climactic, and riddled with plot holes. Across the board. I won't even touch on the exceptionally weak humor, erratic themes, or 'Superman Leia' scene. I hated this movie.
@johnd13: Except he's still a whiny, tantrum fueled little b*tch getting punked by his uncle and beaten by Rey. Knowing they were going to kill off you-know-who, they should've used this movie as an opportunity to make him more menacing or ruthless. You know, like an actual villain or antagonist.
I could've done without that whole 'personal assistant AI' romance subplot, but everything else deserved to be there. Slow at points, yes. Too long? Nah.
I watched a streamer get a $50 donation, with the donor requesting to spend it all on crates just to see what happens. He got 2 blue cards (are there purple? I dunno) and about 10 greens, with enough crafting points (or whatever the hell they're called) to craft....maybe a couple things. Actual game time to earn those crates was likely dozens, as the streamer said he was getting about 1 crate every 1-1.5 hour. Not to mention the convoluted upgrade system, locked heroes, and every class getting a whopping 4 weapons to choose from.
So, you can spend dozens and dozens of hours to unlock....not a whole lot. Or you can blow $200-300+, since apparently $50-100 doesn't actually get you a whole lot. Or you can do what every sane person and non-reviewer is doing, and not buy this game. What a sh*tshow.
I hope this game flops and the sh*tstorm of hate only gets worse. Maybe Disney will revoke EA's Star Wars privileges and give them to a publisher/developer that isn't an insidious f***-wit.
Theon will rescue his sister, they battle Euron, they win, Greyjoys and Golden Company go North and save everybody during a desperate battle. Big dragon vs frost wyrm battle, some primary characters die in the fight against the dead, but 'life' wins, Cersei dies in childbirth, Westeros becomes a republic.
