@MLBknights58 They're trying to make him look like a reckless, rough, barbarian, and his attitude throughout the game says as much. There are some hilarious scenes where Simon does something goofy unintentionally because he's kind of a dork. Definitely strong though.I like the well placed humor with him personally, and it plays into the whole uncertainty of his daddy-issues.

@Badgamewontsell @aragornp @HeadExploder You haven't heard of Lament of Innocence then, which came out before it. It's true that LoS isn't afraid to admit it likes GoW though. I could do without the assy QTEs personally.

@Tangsta03 Not in 3D they aren't. There are some truly breath taking scenes throughout the castle. There are some dour ones too, but it's all intentional

@Akira345 LoS is the best selling Castlevania to date. Mercury Steam isn't going anywhere, and we don't have any evidence KCET is still together at all.

@Laganzualoca Mercury Steam is just redefining what a Castlevania CAN be. They are not afraid to experiment with other genres within the grander scope of the game. This is what I have noticed playing LoS and now LoS:MoF (and yeah this naming system is going to get stupid real fast)

@Kyrylo @franzito OoE's difficulty was a nice change of pace for IGA-developed series. However there was a lot of repetitive level designs and just a general sense of (been there, done that). I agree it's better than PoR, but I enjoyed Lords of Shadows more than either, and there was definitely more work put into it. Dawn of Sorrow is great though.

@bakasora There's nothing "dumb" about MoF's combat system, or it's attempt to return to the more classic-action style roots of the franchise. I admit the QTEs are dumb as hell though (all though the cutscenes they're in do look nice)

@Badgamewontsell IGA's team was pushing the franchise further and further into mediocrity as they tried their best to recapture the brilliance of SotN with each new handheld game. Order of Ecclesia was a good game, but all the reused assets and mostly uninspired soundtrack; all the copy-pasta rooms and the lack of freshness in anything was proof that the Castletroid formula was growing stale and that KCET was god-awful bored of developing it. It was around this time that Michiru Yamane left Konami as well. All the while the sales of the series was rather stagnant (especially for Japan) There's a good reason why Konami CEOs stepped in and contracted a talented Spanish team to give it a more Western edge, because Castelvania sells alot better in the West and because KCET had mostly failed to realize what the series could/should be in 3D.

@Joe295159 It is good. It has its flaws with pacing and emptiness (the designers are trying to give a sense of being alone in a gigantic castle), but if you liked Lords of Shadows you will most likely like this one as well. Mercury Steam is very confident with their own vision of the Castlevania world and their new ideas from the first LoS seep through here in several ways.

If you didn't like LoS, this isn't going to change your mind.

@Ka3DX @ivory_soul Lament of Innocence is a very solid action adventure game. The level design is repetitive at times but it's engaging throughout.

But I really enjoyed lords of Shadow also once it started to get into actual Castlevania environs
