I believe the main reason people buy a console is because they don't have to know anything about tech to play them, just pop it off the shelf, plug it in, scroll through some option (nowadays update, wait for auto install), and you are good to go. This is the only sensible reason I see people would chose a console, the same reason they chose a mac, when greg miller and the other bunch left IGN, and started a new channel they didn't even know what was graphics card, even tough a 5 year old could build a pc with some guidance people just don't want to bother, don't want to learn how to operate a more complicated OS, that knowledge barrier that keeps them away mostly, and of course the other reason is marketing, and they believe that bullcrap, because pc does not have a centralized government, a controlling corporation behind it.
