FF4 it was hard and boring.135grid135

Well...I'm willing to give you that it's hard (they made the Lunar Subterraine even HARDER. That should not be possible).

I've heard good things about the Etrian Odyssey series, and was planning to get Heroes of Lagard since the first one is almost nonexistent, availability-wise.

I was wondering if I could get some opinions. The only negative thing I've heard is that it's pretty challenging, but so is nearly every other Atlus game, and I've really liked everything I've played by them.

Actually, many MANY people greatly enjoyed Trauma Center, Etrian Odyssey, Izuna and other Nintendo Atlus games. I myself enjoyed Riviera and Demikids on the GBA.

Again though, their games tend to be very hard, especially Izuna and Etrian Odyssey, from what I've heard.

I think the main reason some prefer Square Enix over Atlus is because Atlus' games tend to be extremly challenging. From what I've read, both Etrian Odyssey and Izuna 1 (which I plan to get) both had pretty punishing difficulty levels.

Still, I enjoy both, though lately I've been leaning towards Atlus, since their plots tend to be slightly better then Square Enix's (example: Persona 3: FES)

This may just be me, but I think they may have toned down the difficulty of FES's version of The Journey as compared to the original.

Example: The first boss, the bird trio on the fifth floor of Tartarus, were tremendously hard for me in the original (they even KO-ed Junpei once). However, in FES, while still pretty tough, they weren't nearly as overpowered. Then again, I DID equip my party with the good weapons/armor from Kurosawa's sho in FES, so yeah. :/

But yeah, FES would be a good buy, but it can be pretty challenging at times.

3-way tie between FF12, Crisis Core and Dragon Quest 8.

Persona 3 is also pretty high on my list.
