Well based on that picture the guy is doomed. Since even if he manages to take out the bear with that epic uppercut he's using, there's another bear creeping in the background watching the whole spectacle that will surely be out for blood if he kills its kindred bear.

You have to wonder why they didn't just go with $40 to begin with.

mikeyMKII

Well, according to Capcom, because it cost them more to make, since Revelations is being released on a 4 GB game cartridge instead of the 2 GB ones most 3DS games come out on. That being said, I'm glad Revelations is back down to the $40 price, I wasn't looking forward to $50 becoming the standard price for 3DS games. It seems like there was probably enough backlash against the original price point that they backed out of it.

I've been looking forward to playing this game a lot, looks promising. Has anyone on here played it already and if so, thoughts? Props to the thread poster for a well organized and informative thread.

I think you're getting the terms "DS" and "3DS" confused here, the DS was like having a portable N64, 3DS is definitely a step up from that.

Plus I imagine you will be able to extend battery life by turning off some of the bells and whistles, especially WiFi and 3D.dzimm

Yeah I see the point you're trying to make of saying there are features that you can turn off or reduce use of to save battery life on the 3DS but turning off the 3D? Really? Isn't that the key element that separates the 3DS from the DS (well besides the analog joystick and a couple other features, but those are obviously not what people are getting the system for)? I'm not one of those graphics-obsessed people who think games can only be good with the latest graphics/technology, but honestly if you turn off the 3DS's 3D you might as well just play the DS. I'm not understanding the logic of that at all.

While I kind of expected this to be the case due to the 3DS's enhanced technical capabilities (which would translate to greater battery usage), 3-5 hours of battery life is still pretty frustrating, especially for a device that is intended to beportable. If the 3DS has to be plugged into the wall on a regular basis, it basically becomes like a home console and loses any portable/handheld system advantages. While I'm sure plenty of people use their DS at home a lot (in which case this isn't a huge issue, I am often in this category as well), for people on the go or traveling a lot I think this is a pretty big roadblock for enjoying your 3DS when it dies after a couple hours and then you can't play it until you return home or find another source of power if you're traveling. I don't see this as a 3DS deal-killer and I'm still looking forward to getting one, but it's disappointing the system burns through its battery life that fast, having to constantly recharge it sounds like a pain.

I'm probably a little late to the conversation here, but damn these Black and White starter Pokemon names are bad in English! Oshawott sounds like a great nonsense word I should start just casually throwing into conversations. :P

I'm going with Blastoise because the water cannons on its back/shell are totally awesome, but Charizard is a close second. They both are some of my favorite Pokemon of any generation.

Pixel-Perfect

Great review, Pixel-Perfect! I can tell you spent a lot of time on it, it was well-written and interesting, so it gets thumbs-up from me. :D It feels like such a long wait until this spring when Pokemon Black and White come out here, especially when all I keep hearing about the games are good things. By the way, I like the time spent statistic in your review: "100 or more hours". Now THAT is dedication haha.
