It has an awesome feel about it (to me) like the 64, but the graphics are way better. the graphics are in some ways better than the gamecube. I would say the system pulls of wiiish graphics, worse in some ways, better in others.

Super Mario 64 DS was actually rebuilt and looked better than the N64, and that was the original DS, so this one is gonna be at least if not more powerful than the Cube.

I hope it's more like the Gamecube... And I hope things run more smoothly than on the DS. I don't like it when things "jump" across my screen, I like it when they "slide".

Never noticed things "jump" across the screen on DS, but that is ENTIRELY up to the developer if you are talking about framerates/bugs. As far as graphics, there is no hoping about it, they are in some ways better than the Wii and in some a bit worse. Overall you can expect games to look around gamecube to Wii quality.

The Game Boy Color was a portable NES.

The Game Boy Advance was a portable SNES.

The Nintendo DS was a portable Nintendo 64.

The 3DS is a portable Nintendo GameCube.

I think you're getting the terms "DS" and "3DS" confused here, the DS was like having a portable N64, 3DS is definitely a step up from that.

No the DS is some where in the middle of the PSone and N64, theres no games on DS that look better than what the N64 did, Mario 64, Turok 2, Perfect dark, Banjo, Conker and zelda. The 3DS going by the video's looks like a portable gamecube

i don't know what you did to your DS, but it must be in a pretty bad condition, if you think OoT looks better than spirit tracks, or that mario 64 looks better than new super mario bros.

The graphics looks better than Wii graphics in some games. I can say that Resident Evil Revelations trumps Resident Evil 4 which was the best looking gamecube game, and Street Fighter 4 for 3ds looks nearly identical to the 360 and ps3 ones, except the backgrounds.

That could get for disscussion, but saying that it's a portable N64 is nonsense. To me, it's a portable GCN.

It looks at least as good as a gamecube. But then again it is running on a smaller screen at probably lower res. But still damn good. I dont think the wii looks any better than gamecube really so I would saw it might be up to wii level.

Try playing Dead or Alive: Demensons on the N64, would it be able to play it? No (besides the obvious reason of no 3DS game card slot, the N64 cant even begin to handle its graphics). Besides Dead or Alive, the 3DS also has other games that do a fine job in my oppinon of showing off Gamecube/wii-ish graphics, some look close to early HD console twin graphics too.

Obviously, some games might not have great graphics, but those are likely going to come from the 3rd party devs that dont put much if any work into the visuals.

Portable Gamecube/Wii (since the Wii is just a slightly more powerful GC)

History of Nintendo Portables for you:

Gameboy Color = Nintendo Entertainment System

Gameboy Advance = Super Nintendo

DS = N64

3DS = Gamecube

Its a gamecube with depth perception, which is kinda what I expected. Also if you didn't know the gamecube had some pretty elaborate games. I am expecting a pikmin port or original game for the 3ds.

Yeah, the Advance was more like a Sega 32x or Atari Jaguar (in terms of hardware capabilities that is).

You really need to see it for real. Is not anything near N64, nor even GC. Patience as March is not too far and, as I understand, there will be some tours in US and Europe Regards

Must be a troll. The original DS was more like a portable N64. Well, to be fair, the N64 was a good deal stronger than the DS contrary to popular belief, but it was still much more like the N64 than the 3DS will be. 3DS will be roughly on par with the GCN.

Ok this is it Gbc=better graphics than NES (compare links awakening and oracle of ages and seasons to legend of zelda nes) Gba=better graphics than SNES (compare minish cap to a link to the past) DS=better graphics than n64(compare super mario 64 DS to super mario 64) 3DS=better than gamecube(compare resident evil 4 to resident evil revelations and metal gear solid 3D to metal gear solid twin snakes) No the ds wasn't as powerful as the n64, in fact it was around the ps1's power, but its a smaller screen meaning less is more. It's clear the 3DS graphics are above gamecubes. With games like resident evil revelarions and super street fighter 4 3d the games look almost as good as their hd counterparts. No they are worse but they look closer to the hd consoles than the wii ever did and they're not even released. This tells you when the 3ds gets near the end of its cycle, were gonna see almost xbox 360 looking games.

I agree. Spirit Tracks is arguably the best looking DS title out there. Especially the underwater portions. Although I would still say that the N64 was more powerful considering I think OoT is too much for it to handle.

Okay the N64 has bad textures, but the DS has awful looking textures, and I've played spirit tracks, its good for the DS the best looking game on the system but the DS is not the same power as the N64 Its slightly better than the PSone

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn blows it away in the graphics department. However, in terms of detail and scope, I think Chinatown Wars tops them all.

Whoa, really? I'm shocked by this. I still play OoT, MM, Perfect Dark, Banjo Tooie, Pokemon Stadium 2, etc, every time I'm back at my parent's house (I was last there less than a month ago), and those N64 games blow any of my DS games (including the two Zelda's) out of the water graphically. I mean, it does have a much better processor, a graphics chip that can can do trilinear texture filtering (far more advanced than what the DS can do), and has more RAM. Oh, but maybe your N64 didn't have an expansion pack? That must be it. I still see the N64 as stronger (and its specs are still better) without the expansion pack, but it's a lot closer in that case.

You just need to see Mario and Bower from Mario 64 and then the models from the DS version.

Ok ds looks better on a ds screen. On a bigger screen ds would look terrible, but ds games looked better on a ds screen then n64 games look on a tv unless your tv is really really small. The ds is much less powerful than the n64 but it looks better because the less is more factor.

[QUOTE="GamerForca"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] ........ what was the last time you played an N64 game? because i have, and the superiority of the DS is crystal clear to me.

While the N64's specs may have been overall better, it did have two fatal flaws: an obscenely small texture buffer... later games like Perfect Dark tried to work around this by rapidly streaming textures from the cart... and limited ROM capacity*.

*32MB was the limit until late in the system's life, when Nintendo introduced 64MB carts. Whereas the DS started out with 128MB cards and eventually worked up to 512MB.

one thing that makes me worry is people were hyping ds as n64 graphics but in the end it did not compare. I hope 3ds is not a ps2 with 3d effects turn on . 2 screens with 3d i don't think 3ds will compare to gc well in some areas .
