Yeah, don't bother reading the rest. My satire of the enemies of the book certainly don't make me a "friend;" the third book was utterly baffling and pretty horridly written.

It is not much more extreme than the way he calls Narnia Christian propaganda and sais that C.S. Lewis hates our world.

Well, Narnia is very seeped in Christian mythology, beliefs and culture. Then again, so is pretty much everything written from the 1850's and backwards.

Propaganda? Interesting. As for the claims about CS. Lewis I haven't the faintest idea.

Personally though, I hated the series because it was terrible and boring - more so than the Narnia series, even though it wasn't very good either.

Agreed. But you seriously disliked it MORE than Narnia? I felt like punching myself in the face after the Lion Witch Wardrobe one.

See, it would have been okay if they had  said, "We're going to boycott or attack this movie because it's horrible." Completely valid. Instead, they made up a bunch of nonsense reasons why it was stupid instead of saying that it was a wank-off no matter what religion you belong to.

The following is a proposed additon to the mission statement of the Facebook group "Do not Support the Golden Compass," which was surprisingly popular during the release of the movie.

So you understand the context, here is the description of the group, with no editing other than an italics font and the occasional bolded point.

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released
December 7, 2007. This movie is based on a the first book of a trilogy
by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God
so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his
intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about
killing God."
The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed
to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their
children to see the the movie and that the children will want the
books for Christmas.
The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig,
and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is
crucial that we get the word out to warn people to avoid this movie.

Here is my addition to the reasons why this movie is a bad bad thing, because if they're going to make up effing bollocks, I'm going to too.

First review I've read so far is Black. I've never read your previous review of Black, but by damn is this one good. Your second, final sentence of your intro was fantastic. Structure also was brilliant. It was enjoyable from start to finish. I couldn't do it better myself. By god, I wish I could write as well as you. But then again, I guess I have a few years to catch up.

I write what I read. Go check out good review websites like Rock Paper Shotgun, Edge or Eurogamer. Look at music reviews from Pitchfork (their quality varies from writer to writer) or movie reviews from Ebert.
