The 1970s, when I was a child, was a relatively joyous and care-free decade for me. I was always out exploring, and generally having fun, without much of a thought or care about the rest of the world and its problems. I have a lot of fond memories from those times.

The worst decade in my entire life encompasses the years before and after the death of my youngest son.

Damn really sorry to hear that.

Agreed, thats a VERY tough thing for a parent to go through.

The 90's were just amazing. This is where my best memories are are, as this was when I was an older teenager. The music was freaking unbelievable. Technology was rapidly advancing, yet it wasn't overwhelming and hadn't taken over the youth brain yet. Video games were in a great place at this time. It is also fondly remembered as the decade where I had the most concentrated amount of sex - more than I will likely have for the rest of my life. Thank god for vivid memories , occasional alone time, and a firm grip. It's also the decade that my kids were born in.

1970s - I don't remember, I was a wee lad. But I do remember everything being a varying shade of brown

1980s - Pretty cool, but kinda scary. The fear of a nuclear war with Russia was always on our minds at that time. I hated 80's music during the 80's but now I love a lot of it. Weird

1990s - The best, hands down. The music, OMG! TV, movies, just a really cool time to be at that age

2000s - SUCKED! War everywhere, crazy/bad economy, lots of death. Also was when I got divorced, but also got sole custody of my children :) - so it wasn't all bad

2010s - The big Meh. Promises of Hope and Change became more of the same ole same old. The beginning of the end of tolerance/respecting people with different political beliefs (both sides)

2020s - NOT off to a good start. Let's all hope this is just a sh*t year, a one-off

Yes, I am older than many of you here. But I have been a member here since I was 29 and was lurking much earlier than that. I will never ever stop gaming

You are a baby compared to me ;)

1980's were the best, criminally underrated as far as music by the way. Fantastic years for me.

2010's were the worst

As far as gaming late 1990's through mid 2000's was fantastic for PC Gaming.

People love 80's music myself included I wouldn't say it's underrated it's very popular these days.

That is indeed good to hear, they'd probably appreciate a lot of the videos I put on GenX Reddit.

I like the Clash, Sex Pistols, etc... But I am mostly a fan of the Ramones the most.

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Punk anyhow, but the Ramones are my favorite Punk band.

What punk band rises above the rest for you?

I saw The Ramones at the peak of their greatness and with their classic lineup around 1986.....one of the most fun concerts I have ever seen, I must have lost 20 lbs in the first 10 minutes of the concert just from dancing.

You're freaking lucky to have seen them live,I'm 45 years old but became a Ramones fan later in life. When I was in my teens the only punk bands I'd listen to was the Sex Pistols. I'd be into bands like AC/DC,Iron Maiden,etc…. My musical interest went 20X as I started to reach my late 20's. I had my head in the sand for quite a few years,trust me long story I'd rather forget,but yeah the Ramones are a band I'd love to see live with lots of classic tunes.

I had a couple of years on you at 58 now ;)

@heathen75:

I saw the Circle Jerks in 1981 for the excellent Wild in the Streets album.......fantastic! First time ever "slam-dancing", those were the days when you got knocked on your ass by strangers, but they would help you right back up, noone was out for blood, just release of aggression. Never looked back after that, so much fun.

@KungfuKitten:

1977-1984 was fantastic! But the same could be said for late 80's music through mid-90's as well.

late 90's and on....meh

Personally I think the best music came from the 1966-1971 period, that time period featured a tremendous burst of inspired energy. The Beatles motivated so many other bands to be at their best. So much of the good music that came after (other than Rap, see 1977-1984 for that) was simply a derivative from that period.

There was so much great music in the 1980's! You had to have been there. I like the 80's over the 90's.
