This laptop has a much better gpu and is quite good with good looks to. Although this is a 17 inch you could find it in a 15.6 inch form factor at some places. They are sold out on the 15,6 inch model. But seriously why would you consider a gaming laptop? You could build a super badass desktop for that price.

I have no experience with PC hardware. I'd have no idea how to put it all together if I built it my self. I like being able to move around with my computer, so a laptop is definitely a plus. But if I can get a better desktop for a cheaper price, I'll consider that instead. I just haven't seen one.

Like I said; It would be nice to be able to find one at Best Buy so I can put it on the Best Buy card and pay for it over time. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to get it until July at least.

A 1400 dollar desktop would blow any game currently on the market A gtx 580m from a laptop is still 30 percent weaker than a desktop 6870 so i hope you realise that buying a gaming laptop means throwing some of your money down the drain. IF you want a laptop that can game get the x460dx from msi they are pretty slick bastardsd with the gt630m and handle games @medium res OR you could just wait for ivy bridge and the mobile line of the 600 series. The gt 640m is pretty sweek. You also might want to check out the acer aspire m5. Cherios :D

Well, I'm nto a complete idiot. Obviously a desktop is going to be better for gaming than a laptop. But like I said in my original post, I like the convenience of a laptop. Being able to move it between rooms, out to my shop or to a friends house if I want to is extremely nice. I'd willingly get a desktop if I can find a place to get one made for a reasonable price. I know the cheapest way to do it is to buy all the parts and build it your self, but I don't really know how to do all of that.

Would iBuyPower or CyberPower be a good place to look price wise?

I think it would be better if you wait a little. By July, you'll have a wider selection and the new G75 will probably be out at that time. But like Diwashb suggested, you should still consider a desktop if you don't mind it staying in one place.

The only problem with that is Diablo 3 comes out next month and I plan on playing that pretty heavily. I'm not sure how well my current laptop will perform.

It is a great laptop. I have one too. But keep in mind that the Best Buy model comes with a 2gb 560m which is the weaker 128bit version of that GPU. From what I've heard it is comparable to 460m performancewise. I got my first G74 from Best Buy too, but I returned it when I found out about the weaker GPU and ordered the one with 3gb 192bit 560m from amazon. Something I thought you should know before you buy it. Anyway, good luck with your purchase.

I hadn't even noticed that. How big of a difference in performance is that? And is the value still there at that price, or should I look for one with a different card?

Also, I'm no stranger to large devices. My Qosmio is an absolute beast. I'll feel right at home on that thing :D

Well that's good to hear. It was one of the ones that caught my eye. It has the more appealing look of something like an Alienware laptop, but without the bloated price.

Does it have any issues with overheating? That's the main problem my Qosmio has always had. It overheats too easily. Also, how's the display quality?

I'm most likely going to be in the market for a new computer within the next month or two. I currently have an older ToshibaQosmiox305. I know Desktops are better for gaming, but I have grown used to the convenience of a laptop. Not that I take it anywhere... Just being able to move it around the house is nice.

When I got my Qosmio it was on sale for a little over $800. At the time it was a pretty decent deal, but now it's become extremely out dated and I'm ready for a new one. I won't be gaming too heavily as I also play on Xbox and PS3. But I will be playing a lot of Diablo 3 when that comes out as well as some Counter Strike, Team Fortress, maybe some Battlefield 3 if possible and a few others.

Buying from Best Buy is a must since I can put it on the Best Buy card and pay on it over an 18 month span. Other wise I will have to wait a while to get it. I was looking around at what they have and this seemed like a decent deal in comparison to the newer Qosmio(which has almst the same hardware but costs $600 more) or anything from Alienware(That has inferior hardware for a higher price), but I don't know a whole lot about PC hardware values.

Laptop specs:

Second Generation Core i7-2670QM Quad core 6MB l3 Cache 2,0GHz with turbo boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB DDR3 memory
17.3" LED HD Display
NVIDIA GTX560M Graphics
1TB Hard Drive

Price: $1179.99

Think it's worth the price tag, or is there something better at a similar price? I really don't want to go over $1200.

I don't think it's a problem with the Mouse since it works after a fresh restart. So I'm thinking it's something wrong with the driver/firmware. But we'll see what Razer Support says. :/

Do you have the right drivers? There are different versions of the Deathadder. Elann2008

That's what I thought was the problem. But I uninstalled everything Razer and made sure I downloaded the right ones. The Drivers and Firmware are correct and up to date. Still does it. :(

I emailed them. Hopefully there is a solution to this problem. I'd hate to have to buy another one.

Maybe something is wrong with the USB Controller. Are you plugging it in a USB3.0 maybe? trastamad03

It's a standard USB 2.0 drive.

A couple other things I noticed.
-Works fine after the crash.
-Crashes if used when Laptop comes out of sleep mode.
-Lights on mouse, and pointer stutter every few seconds when used after sleep mode.

I'm using it with a laptop.
