Yes PS3 and Xbox360 is fun, but I am still very, very satisfied with my DS, 3DS, and Wii.
@Zepthire95 @abHS4L88 @sabresieben I don't think you understand what "setting the standards" actually means. Plus, saying that Nintendo never set the standards is also a fat lie. Sure they never came up with everything, but most of the stuff that Nintendo does is usually followed up by Sony and Microsoft.
For one, never ever say that a console's ability to play DVD and Blue-Ray is a "gaming" achievement. It's irrelevant.
I don't remember Sony ever doing a ton of innovation. Well, at least compared to Nintendo. I will admit that the dual stick was revolutionary, and the eye toy was somewhat new (even though it can be argued that it owes part of its existence to Nintendo's power glove), there really wasn't a ton of innovation. Besides, the eye toy was only used for like what, three games? Other then the fact that it really was a five minute experience.
Playstation owes its existence to the NES, SNES, and N64, not to mention the Sega consoles like Genesis and Dreamcast. The eye toy, though it was the first of its kind, it borrowed some of the concepts from Nintendo's power glove. I don't think I have to explain the playstation move. The PSP and Vita was obviously a response to the much successful Gameboy and DS series and many, many, many of Playstation's first games were specifically meant to compete with Nintendo games. Lara Croft, for example, was meant to compete with Nintendo's Ocarina of Time. Many of what we see today in FPS' is based off of, yes Doom and Wolfstein, but also largely from N64's Goldeneye. Now they even have Playstation All-stars, which is a blatant response to the successful Smash Bros series. Also, many of the design options for many 3D action/adventures and platformers were based off of Nintendo's. For example, Ocarina and 64's camera controls. I also need to mention that many franchises that now make the PS series successful originally started from Nintendo consoles. Final Fantasy is a good example. So is Street Fighter and King of Fighters. I could go on.
Yes, Sony did do a few things better than Nintendo consoles. But saying that Nintendo did not set any standards is either a lie or pure ignorance.
@nintendoboy16 I thought that Twilight Princess was better than Skyward Sword because it was more difficult and it wasn't as linear. But Skyward Sword is still good for different reasons.
