I do enjoy the enhanced form and tidiness that the new layout brings. However, the stats have shown incorrect information for me. I have uploaded at least 10 more videos than the 3 it credits me for.
So my super-old computer doesn't take the afternoon to load one page of a topic, it'd be nice if I had the option to reduce some of the clutter. The option to cut other people's signatures and avatars would definitely make loading pages a lot better. Giving us the option to turn those smilies off and have them viewed as ": )" without the space would also make the place feel more adult. In fact, I might even consider returning to the GameSpot forums.
These kinds of topics only end in others hating what each other person likes. Message Board Forums aren't good places to get others to hate alongside you—there are walls for that.
Square-Enix, if anything, markets their products less than anyone else. Square isn't creating hype for their game. Period. This guy, in fact, has provided the online community with more footage of Final Fantasy XII than Square-Enix and the entire Entertainment Software Media/Press Industry has combined, exponentially greater. If anything, they purposely give their games a low profile to prevent too many people from being spoiled too much. If anything, they're hurting their game's reputation. Compare the release of Final Fantasy XII to Halo 2. Most of us will agree with which game is superior, but which game got talked about the most? It's obvious—Halo 2. Why? Microsoft assisted Bungie in marketing that thing to utter death. That's not the case here with Final Fantasy XII. How many Final Fantasy XII commercials have you seen on television? As of now the game is 44 days away. Halo 2 commercials were all over television much longer before that. Another reason why Square-Enix and Sony's collective idiocy will end together with the Playstation 3.
For fun I'd like to see who out there got what and why. Me? I got the Collector's Edition because XII is where it'll end for me for the major Final Fantasies, due to Sony and Square's collective idiocy. I might as well go out with a bang and get the best. I won't mind watching the extras on the DVD telling me why it took them so long to bring me this game. : P Anyway, some of the best recent news for Final Fantasy XII is that other than the great localization it has gotten, the NA version will include a De-Flicker [Super Smash Bros. Melee had that in-game option as well (the best thing a game on the non-anti-aliasing PS2 can have)] as well as a Widescreen mode. I can't believe that they released FFXII out in Japan without a Widescreen mode. Banjo-Tooie, a game released before Final Fantasy X, and on the Nintendo 64 had a Widescreen mode. And of course, we all like those few cutscenes that were once text-only now being voiced.
