I would suggest myself getting the Radeon HD 5830 even though it will be a bit over your budget.sasdx

The person I'm getting this for doesn't mind graphics too too much, he just wants to be able to play games at really high frame rates

To save more money, do you think I should just scrap the idea of getting a Haf 992 + extra fan, or just getting a simple small, cheap case, like the Antec 300 ($53.99)?

I have a similar setup, if you wanna save money, you don't really need a 750watt. 600 or 650 will do fine. What is the computer going to be used for?5ssj
gaming, browsing, general use
psu u do not need an extra fan for your case since haf has more than enough NLahren
Alright I'll go with that PSU & I'm unsure about the fan, I know it's not necessary, but I think it will make the case look better?

I'm building a computer for a relative and I'm in the process of purchasing parts. Any suggestions to save on money or any suggestions in general would be awesome. Here is what I'm planning to get at the moment:

Coolermaster Haf 922 Mid Tower ATX Case
$89.99 ($79.99 after MIR)

Coolermaster 200MM Red LED Case Fan (side fan)
$14.95

Gigabyte P55A-UD3 ATX Motherboard + Intel Core i5 750 (BUNDLE)
$361.27

Powercolor Radeon HD 5770 850MHZ 1GB 4.8GHZ GDDR5
$154.99

G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24
$109.99

Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB Hard Drive
$63.99

OCZ ModXSream Pro 600W
$79.99 ($59.99 after MIR)

Corsair TX750W PSU
$109.99 ($89.99 after MIR)

LG 22X SATA DVD Writer
$19.72

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
$105.99

Total: $1000.88 CAD
Total after MIR: $980.88 CAD

Btw, I'm purchasing all products through www.ncix.com, but some of the prices listed are price-matched.

Thanks!

I have a close friend whose father passed away when he as 14, but his father didn't die of a disease or something of that sort, he committed suicide, less than a week before his son's (my friend's) birthday. After that event my friend matured very quickly...I wonder what he thinks of the whole ordeal, but he seemed to take it very well, not letting it effect him too much on the outside. Every year I surprise him with a cake, along with a couple of friend to let him know he has people there for him :)

You can't SLi two different cards together. You can run one as a graphics processor and the other as a PhysX card, but you can't run them both as graphics processors.

My recommendation, considering your situation is this: Get the Q6700, get a GTS 250, and keep your motherboard. Unless you have enough money to go for the new Intel sockets, don't buy a new motherboard.

ravenguard90

my motherboard is a very very bad one. its something called P5G. it worht less than 40$ new, i dont think it can take any new parts.

Well, I used this board for a friend's build, and it seemed pretty good for such a cheap board. It might work for what you're looking for.

:O

I live in Orleans, Ottawa as well, and I've never actually been to this store, is it any good?
