@rimnet00 "In a market, where software engineers are few, the chance of finding a good programmer who is willing to focus on this kind of programming is rare. That is why the Cell will not be mainstream, as the cost for hiring programmers for it is extremely expensive." Agreed. AMD and Intel are making multi-core cpus which have better architecture for game development, while the cell cpu has a single core with 7spus and is good for other things.
The 'Spider platform' sounded so exciting and I was reading all the text until I reached the cpu performance tests and was dissapointed. AMD should increase the clock speeds to be more competitive. It sounds like the Phenom cpu has better architecture than the Intel Quads, but it's not beating it performance wise.
The screenshots dont look great. I think the videos will show that SMG is a better looking game than SMS. Anyway GS did a similar feature with a comparison of MP3 and MP2.
You can enjoy other science fiction stories you know !!! If your a fan of Half-Life, then you can like other stories like Star Wars. Marc Laidlaw is narrow minded.
Half-Life is not as epic and grandiose as Star Wars (original trilogy, not the prequals) in terms of the science-fiction story. For a video game and the 'shooter' genre, then yes HL is one of the all time greats, but Marc Laidlaw's opinion is worthless and it reduces his credibility as a science-fiction writer.
'Forge' and 'Theatre' are great additions to Halo 3. Bungie is always one step ahead of the competition. I would not be surprised if other console shooters copied Halo 3's extensive features and customisation.
