Just as good as any other PoP game

User Rating: 7.5 | Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands PS3
If you played any other PoP game before you know what to expect, lots of jumping and swinging and a bit of swordplay. Platforming tends to have a slow start, so the first few hours can feel a bit repetitive and boring. Later on though, you get a few powers that you can use at your own will that spice up the platforming and make the game more engaging and fun.

The combat on the other hand feels shallow. It looks just as good as Assassins Creed or Batman Arkham Asylum, but again it is simply to easy to plow trough the brainless undead, just how combat was in the lasts PoP game and Assassins Creed. You can just spam the attack button in every encounter and everything will work itself out. Occasionally there will be enemies with shields that you first have to kick and then strike at when they are exposed. That's pretty much it, the acrobatic moves look great, but you never actually have to use it on anyone. You also cannot block anymore.

You earn experience by killing enemies which you can use to unlock new spells and upgrades, but really you don't need any of those to finish the game. By destroying vases you can find health and sand power orbs. At no point in the game do you actually have kill anybody, unless you want some experience points, you can simply ignore everyone and continue on climbing and jumping.

The ability to rewind time is back, and is just as good as it always was. It's been changed slightly though, you cannot let go at any time you would like to, but instead get send back to the last place you had the option of deciding your next move. This is a good improvement for removing those little mistakes you could have made in the Sands of Time trilogy.

The bosses are very repetitive. All of the bosses and those bigger enemies have exactly the same patterns and weakness. The story doesn't add much to the trilogy, all you can figure out is how the Prince got the medallion (at least I think that's the same one) and learn why he is headed back to Babylon.

If you liked any PoP game so far, you will feel at home with Forgotten Sands, and if you hate any PoP game you will also hate this one. It might seem that Forgotten sands falls short at almost every step, apart from platforming later on. This is definitely a game suited only for fans, thanks to the shallow, easy combat and story.
