Can you say Classic...........

User Rating: 9 | Phantasy Star Collection GBA
Phantasy Star started on the Sega Master System went on to the Genesis. This has nothing to do with Phantasy Star Online which is a completely different game. Phantasy Star is basically your old school RPGs. But if you're a graphic whore then why did you buy a GBA? Because this game offers no great graphics. What I like best about RPGs is leveling up characters or as I like to call it "pumping up". I know it sounds freeky but I like it. I and many others are hopping for a Phantasy Star Collection 2 on the GBA. With Phantasy Star 4, Phantasy Star Adventure and Gaiden from the Gamegear. But let's get started: Phantasy Star: this game came out in 1988 and was way ahead of its time. The main character is a female. She goes on her journey and meets up with 3 other companions. You get to travel 3 different planets. This game is extremely hard, you will need to level up close to lv.10 before going to the 2nd town. The dungeons are 3D which can become very confusing, kind of like in Shining in the Darkness. The story line is like no other. The sound is pretty cool. The best weapons and armor has to be found and earned rather than bought in stores. The game is pretty long, well longer than the average RPG on the GBA. Phantasy Star 2: this is the best out of the 3. You start off as a soldier-type and are ordered to do missions and find out what is going on. Later on you get to have 7 other companions to a total of 8 in all. The maximum characters in a party is 4, the others have to stay at the base. The monsters are very hard and you need to earn your experience and money by battling long and hard, I mean REALLY HARD. The music is awesome and will have you humming when not playing. The story line again is like Phantasy Star 1, it fallows right after it. This game is the longest of the 3, it can take months to finish it. Phantasy Star 3: well people consider this the black-sheep of the series. Maybe because it doesn't fit into the story line like 1-2-4 but it fits somewhere in there. I know this is suppose to happen before Phantasy Star 1 or something. This game is unique like no other. You start off as a Prince and go through a journey but you can't finish it. You get to chose your wife between 2 women. Your son continues then he has to make a choice to marry out of 2 women. Then his son continues and has to finish the job. In all you can have different 4 endings with 3 Generations. The character sprites look the best out of the 3 games. This game lets you have a party of 5 rather like the other 2 games. The music is pretty good but the dungeon music...WOW, just too awesome. The story line is really cool with many twists and turns. I just found it a problem with the dungeons, they can become really irritating and boring. This is the shortest of the 3 games and the least best but it still holds its own. All in all this game is definitly worth it. It offers 3 games which are really long. This game could easily be the best game on the GBA. The price going for it in Canada right now is $30-$35, probably around $20 American. Because it came out a while ago, it can be a pain to find at stores, best bet is EB or the internet.
