User Rating: 9.5 | Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee PS
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is not your normal 2D platformer. It's revolutionary gamespeak system, unique story and amazing graphics and sound make it just about the best ever and as I remember from my childhood, one of the scariest.

You start the game with a cutscene featuring Abe, a Mudokon, one of the 100 in slavery in Rupturefarms. Abe's just walking around doing his normal job when he spots that munchees, one of three meats that are produced there have become extinct so only Scrab Cakes and Paramite Pies are left on the menu. Or are they? Passing a gap in the wall Abe spots the Glukkons, his evil masters having a meeting about the fact that the numbers of Scrab and Paramites are falling and therefore so will profits. But they have a new trick up their sleeves. A new meat. Mudokon meat.

The aim of the game is just to escape from Rupturefarms and to save as many Mudokons as possible. However, Abe has no weapons to do this so you only have Abe's limited vocabulary, numerous levers and other objects to escape. You'll want to get better than the worst ending aswell so you should try and save every Mudokon possible.

There are four kinds of enemy you'll meat through the game. Paramites, which are like crawling hands which are vicious when cornered, Scrabs, which are lighteningly quick beaked creatures, Sligs, which are like squids with mechanical legs and guns and Slogs which are their vicious little dog-like pets.

The difficulty appears when you realise that there are very few save points and check points. Abe might have infinite lives but you still have to start from the start of the checkpoint again if you die, which is most likely. You will have to think on your feet and be able to solve challenging dilemmas if you want to complete this game saving all 99 Mudokons.

Altogether, Abe's Oddysee is a must buy for anybody who owns a playstation or ps2. Even if you don't own one of these, this game alone should be enough reason to buy one. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a game like no other.
