For veterans of the series and for new players, this game is a must play.

This game is basically a remake of Megaman X from the SNES. Capcom has revamped it with 3D side scrolling graphics (which look very nice), new and improved sound, and for fans of the Megaman series, a more in-depth storyline.

Everything you love about the Megaman X original game is here, unspoiled.

The big difference, outside of the visual and audio improvements, is the ability to play the story from Vile's perspective. He has an interesting story, but what is so great is the variability of gameplay with him. I don't remember the number of different weapon combinations you can have with him, but basically Vile has 3 different types of attacks. He has a leg bomb, an arm vulcan, and his signature shoulder mounted cannon. Each of the mavericks you defeat give vile new and differing weapon abilities. Unlike Megaman, Vile can't change his weapons during the stage, only before it, and instead of having a gauge you have to refill to use special abilities, Vile's regenerates on its own.

Also, you can choose normal or hard mode for each of the characters. Normal mode is pretty easy, but in hard opponents and enemy mavericks deal a lot more damage, as well as use different fighting techniques than in the original Megaman X game. These extra modes give this game replayability (I've beaten it on hard with both characters several times).

So to anyone who has enjoyed a Megaman game in their time, or even to someone who hasn't ever played a game in the series, give this title a chance.
