Golf lover or not, you will enjoy this game

User Rating: 8.8 | Mario Golf N64
This game has a great effect on me as I have spent numerous hours infront of the TV playing this one, while never owning it. My buddies, one of my buddies' dad, and I would have a many grudge matches playing this one as it was always a quesiton for who was the house champ and trust me, it would get quite competative. We would play this game for several years until we discovered Tiger Woods 2005 and then it began to die out, even though we pop it in from time to time.

Gameplay: Perfect. The game engine in this game is flawless as if you account for all the wind, your draw/fade, your lie, the elevation change... it will allow you to hit a perfect shot so everytime, the play is soley in your hands. As well, the putting is loads of fun with the newly invented 3-D of the N64 so you don't have to rely on lines and tell how steep the hill is by the thickness of the line. The way you go about hitting the ball is much different then Tiger Woods as well as it relies on the cursor and bar technique which, in my opinion, is the much more effective one. If you are unfamiliar with this system, it is very self explanatory when you see it but it is difficult for me to describe so you will have to take my word for it about it being better.

Graphics: They are good. You can see what is happening. The game is not ment to portray a realistic setting and this may be the reason it does not look to real but even with this said, the shapes are a little "blocky." However, you can see everything that is happening and make your shots accordingly.

Sound: This is fun. When your player makes a bad shot or a good shot, you will hear them celebrate and with many of these characters, they do not speak English so you will hear Yoshii do his crazy squeal thing or hear DK give a little hollar. Also, for those who do speak, it seems to be cheesy, in a humerous way (I think it is ment to be like this). Finally, you can also do distractions while playing in a multiplayer game when your opponent is about to hit if you are creative you can get Peach to make some inappropriate noises.

Value: If I'm not mistaken, this is the first golf game (that is respectable) to be released for any system. This may be the game that got Tiger going and not that Tiger is here, it is here to compete with Mario, which bumps his score down to a 9.

Reviewer's Tilt: Isn't htis a rarity, Gamespot giving a higher review than the gamers, and in this situation, I am going to have to agree with Gamespot. I truely think this is a great game.

Recommendation: This game may broaden your horizons in respects to enjoying games that you would not give a chance or maybe just golf in general. I firmly believe that if you have a N64 you should pick this up. Golf fan or not, I think you will like it. Its a similar thing to FiFA, even though you may not like soccer, you probably like FIFA.
