Was this the game everyone was talking about? I don't get it.

I never really buy into the hoopla; I usually will make my decision when I have actually have played the game. The entire buzz will get me interested, but only if it is the type of game I would play in the first place. Since I do love the first-person shooters and everyone was just so smitten with Halo, I thought to myself, how could I go wrong?

Well, I wasn’t really impressed with Halo. I thought the weapon selection was sparse and it just didn’t seem to make itself stand out from all the FPS out there. Don’t get me wrong, Halo is a solid game and does deserve some of the accolades bestowed on it, but I didn’t find it all that revolutionary. I thought the PS2’s Red Faction was a much better game. It had better weapons and even the use of vehicles and it came out before Halo did.

I am not much of a multiplayer type of gamer. I guess I am too anti-social that I only enjoy playing games by myself and I don’t like the people who don’t have lives and dedicate every waking moment on one game just so they can be annoying jerks when kicking everyone else’s butt. Most of the good things I heard about Halo had to do with multiplayer, so that is probably why I didn’t really see all the hype.

Halo just had me wishing there was more to it, since I played more obscure FPS that I thought were better. Halo does have its good points, like excellent graphics, sound, and music, but just didn’t have me with its game play. It is still a decent game to play, just not the revolutionary masterpiece many have claimed it to be.
