Captain Marvel Movie Posters Introduce New And Returning MCU Characters

By Chris E. Hayner on February 7, 2019

There's still nearly two months before Captain Marvel hits theaters, but as the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe draws closer, we continue to learn more about what to expect from the film. It's been revealed that the movie is set in the 1990s and will serve as the origin story of the titular Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

With it being set before even Iron Man was a thing, don't expect the Avengers to pop up. However, there are still some familiar faces in the movie. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is all over the trailers, and Clark Gregg is making his first big screen MCU appearance as Agent Phil Coulson since his supposed death in the first Avengers film. Now, in a series of new character posters, Fury, Coulson, Captain Marvel herself, and many more are getting the spotlight.

While the posters feature most of the main cast, from Larson's Captain Marvel to Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), there are some posters with characters that remain a little mysterious. Annette Bening, for instance, plays the Kree scientist who turned Carol Danvers part Kree, making way for her superhero alter ego. What we don't know, however, is her character's name.

There's plenty to study in these posters, as you get to know the characters of the Captain Marvel corner of the MCU better, so take a good look at them while you prepare yourself to see the film. In fact, pay special attention to the image of Goose, Danvers' cat. Not because there's anything hidden in it with deeper meaning, but mostly because it's about time we get a pet in the MCU.

Captain Marvel is in theaters on March 8. For more about the movie, check out everything we have learned about it thus far, as well as an explainer of the Kree/Skrull war that will be featured in the film.
