sorry about dashboard update hardcore gamers

im hering alot of bull crap about people who hate avatars and or the new dashboard style and i would just like to say im sorry that something like a dashboard is going to destroy your gears of war 2 and Ut3 experience

Wait dont most hardcore gamers jump to gamedisk disc anyway

if you dont want to look at it or use it than dont!!

Secondly didn't we kind of make 360 do this update

• We request hundreds of thousands of downloads(200,000)
• we get pissed off when we have to go through 10 menus just to get the stuff we want (old dash),
• we get ticked when we here that microsoft is getting rid of content to make more space for us,
• we begged for a group chat session with our friends (live party)
• and seamless transition from game to game(new Guide).
• we asked for new social experiences on xbox live(avatars).
• we asked for faster games (installs).
• then we complain that the old dash kept freezing out and glitching and slow menu responses.

so are we really going to be pissed if they actually do something we've been asking for

I didn't care about the menus.

I don't care about them cleaning up the marketplace

Why would I care that they are cleaning up the less downloaded things on the marketplace? If they are **** I don't need them on the marketplace.

I didn't ask for HDD installs. I only have a 20 GB HDD so I wont even use that feature.

So again, why would I care about a statistic, pointless content being removed, and a feature I'm not going to use?

Again, I like the update, but I don't need those features so stop acting like those were at the top of the list.

My 360 isn't connected to net atm as just moved it to different location in house and need to install network socket there or get wifi adapter.

If you don't have internet connection to your 360, they'll release something on xbox.com that you can burn to a disc and put into your 360 to install the update.

Doubt, not dought.

Most of this I don't care about either. For downloadable content I usually only want XBLA games but having Netflix will be great for some people. I wanted multiple person chat, because if I have a few friends on and we are playing single player we can talk. A party system doesn't matter to me. I have a 20GB harddrive so I'm not going to be installing anything, I don't really care about load times anyway. Why would I care about them clearing out the marketplace? I never hear people saying that the dashboard is slow, except for loading arcade games and demos. Avatars seem pointless.

It really isn't taking anything away from me and it is giving me something I have wanted for a long time with multiple person voice chat.

Don't know why almost every 360 user hate the new dashboard, it looks amazing for me, it has a lot of eye-candy :)apsbox

I can't wait for it. At first it was like eh but i'll enjoy the new features and making a random funny Mii or whatever will be fun in my opinion.

Really, MS is just pandering to the casual crowd with this update. Avatars aren't new, but it's obvious MS is really aping something Nintendo has a pretty good stake in. Why can't the 360 just stay original and unique in its own right (read: blades were a cool idea)? We don't need no stinkin' Yuus or whatever. jake63

well, the idea is fine and no doubt for that.

but the thing that people are hating it is its look, they should have made the whole display better.

A little surprised nobody has mentioned gamespot's more indepth look at the new dashboard.

For those of you complaining about not getting to keep the old "blade" system....take a look at the screenshots showing the new "blade" system. You can still access and use blades by pressing the guide button.

If you don't like the avatars, then stop complaining and just don't use them.

its optional, the enite dashboard is. Just use the guide button, its goign to be the entire old dashboard. Besides avatars are nice for 1 vs 100 and other games you might want to do for fun or with your girlfriend. Not to mention that its a must have to win this generation. I know we dont want 10 year olds but a lot of them are going to buy a console soon based on these extras instead of exclusives so Microsoft has to do this.

Why not provide a link to where is says that there is an option to disable avatars, im sure nobody will give a shiiit if you can disable them, i know i wont. We payed for live and the 360 because we like the way it WAS if we dont want to use this new update we should have the option to turn it off, and from the huge ammount of people who are complaing about it, which i would say is the majority of people, we should be able too, i have not heard if it was possible but from what your saying "just turn it off" then thats great no one will give a damn. People dont know if you can turn it off, but if you complain enough then the next update will have that feature. Until then just use the guide button which is the old dashboard after the update.

You know with all this **** about the avatars, who ever said they're all going to look like the what? One or two we saw? We don't know what all the options are so we really can't say if they're all **** or not. I don't paticularly like how the ones they showed at E3 looked but I do see a glimmer of hope. I was intrested when they said that achievements might unlock new costumes/clothing options for your avatar. Think obtaining all the Halo3 achievements and then unlocking a Master Chief or Spartan costume. Plus this is MS we're talking about here, if people are so pissed off that their avatar looks "kiddy" they'll just throw on new items for purchase on the marketplace and make a killing.

Players aren't angry at this because they're HAAARDCORE, they are pissed because they don't want a childish dashboard which is ripped straight from the Wii.

Don't get me wrong I love my Wii, but I want a Wii and a 360. Not a Wii60. Now let me address a few of your points.

I agree this is annoying. However, the answer to this isn't to turn the whole Xbox Live experience upside down in favor of attracting a new audience of 10 year olds and younger.

I don't think you understand this "feature." This will not give you the ability whislt in the middle of one game to seamlessly leap into another game. Once you select to go to another game, the system queues said game and then you have to change the disks. Yup, you have to take out your current game and put in the game you want to play. Once the disk is in you will jump "seamlessly" into your next game.

This is, how do you say? Oh yeah, pointless. Is it really sooo hard to get up, open the disk tray, and exchange disks? Actually, were you to do that you would leap into the next game anyway. Useless.

Speak for yourself. I have yet to hear of anyone wanting a Mii on XBL. As for "new social experiences," what more do you want? Xbox Live is the best online experience you can ask for. Of course it isn't perfect and there are many improvements they can make to the dashboard and content available; yet once again the answer is not to turn the established system of blades into a cross media bar with a dancing cartoon.

There is a reason people are upset and they have every right to be. This isn't something "we've been asking for." Some wanted improvements, not to let some 8 year old give the dashboard a facelift.

Grow up? I think the "issue" here is that we are grown up. We aren't the prepubescent kids who we so often mute. Why should we get off Xbox Live? Because we actually want an experience that does not emulate the Nintendo playbook? That's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. And if you ask me, this is an issue of great concern. I am not going to quit XBL, but this is disappointing nontheless. Perhaps when more details come out it will not be as bad as it looks, but I won't keep my hopes up.

It's a shame to know that once Microsoft makes up their mind they just won't back down.

If the new update is making you worried about the 360's imagine as a hardcore gaming machine, then your the one that needs to grow.
