Halo Reach (How To Play)

To clear up any confusion that might arise and make sure everyone doesn't miss any time in the beta here's the official instructions from Microsoft

You will need

1. Gold membership
2. ODST campaign disc
3. 1.2gig of free space on the hard drive

1. Launch the game from the dashboard

2. Select "Play the Beta" from the main menu. (You won't see this choice prior to May 3.)

3. The first time you do this, Halo 3: ODST will need to download the beta from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. You'll see the window below, and you'll need to select "Confirm Download.

4. When the download has finished, choose "Continue."

5. You'll be taken back to the Halo 3: ODST main menu again. Select "Play the Beta" once more.

6. Now that you've successfully downloaded the beta, selecting "Play the Beta" will launch the game, instead of downloading it.

7. Enjoy helping us test Halo: Reach, and get that pre-order in so you'll be ready when the game ships this Fall!

That's it folks, follow this handy dandy guide and you'll be shooting people in the face in no time

The Beta will run from May 3rd to May 19th

Also...

"Everyone who logs in and plays at least one full game of any type in the "Halo: Reach" beta will receive a free "Halo: Reach" Avatar hoodie via the Halo Waypoint portal on Xbox LIVE. To redeem the hoodie, players must access Halo Waypoint and browse their "Halo" Career statistics after completing a match. Additionally, as a way to give even more "Halo" fans a chance to join the fun, online multiplayer for the "Halo: Reach" beta, "Halo 3: ODST" and "Halo 3" will be free for all Xbox LIVE members during the "Halo Multiplayer Unlock Weekend," which runs from May 14 at 9 a.m. PDT through May 17 at 9 a.m. PDT."

Also...

The ODST disc must be in the tray to play the Reach beta every single time you play the beta.

Also...

After each match if you're going to exit out of the game completely let it go back to it's main screen for a minute so your user stats can be fully loaded to the servers so they can have all the game data.

ha ha funniest thing I have read, we have the beta, after the hate or love for thebeta then the hype till september ohh who wants a bet on at least 3 threads a day for the next 5 months:P

after i click confirm download and it's downloading...can i exit out and turn xbox off to go into "sleep download mode" or do i have to keep the download screen up with game still running? i know this may seem like a stupid question but i was just wondering oh and does anyone know what time it'll go up on the east coast?

How long is this beta going to be active, my Xbox broke and I have one to two weeks left before I get it back.

Good thread. Been playing the beta since Friday and it's really fun. Can't wait for the other modes coming tomorrow.

Does anyone know if the beta starts right at 12 oclock tonight? should we be staying up to wait for it, or is it going to be activated some random time in the mid day?

Wish they posted the release time... anywhere. Been checking since 3am EST. Figured by 6am EST they'd be sleeping on the job and should be up around 9am PST. Just kinda frustrating.

I still only have "Preview the Beta" in my ODST Campaign disc menu. Can anyone tell me why I don't see the "Play Beta" option yet? Thanks so much in advance.scott1598

if i leave the game on, will the "Play the Beta" magically appear when it goes live or do i have to log out and then back in to see it?scott1598

I'm assuming you have to log out so the game can update.
